Long time listener, first time caller.

I've been lurking in shadows here for over a year when I was looking at a RTV 900 (bought it last October, love it) and always had good intentions to post a review once it hit one hundred hours. That never happened, we are closer to 400 hours today.
Over the past 12 months I became so impressed with my "Little Bull" that when it came time this year to replace an aged Deere tractor, I never even looked at any thing other than Kubota.
I went to my dealer knowing that a 7040 with 4x4, no cab and a loader would probably be enough tractor, but I also loved the park gear, and 12 speeds of the 8540. He agreed that I would be happier with the 8540 12 sp, but he didn't have any in stock. What he did have was a M9540HD12-1 with ten whole hours on the clock and a demo discount that put it right back down at the 8540 price.
It was a no brainer for me, so I had him slap a Bush Hog MDX 96 inch box blade on back and a Blue Diamond double hay spear on front, wrote the largest check I've ever written as a down payment and drove it home.
I am currently sitting in the dark, and will be eating rice and beans for the next 5 years. I truly am Kubota poor.

Welcome. I have a new M7040 cab.

Like you I went looking for something smaller - L4240 to be precise. Came back with the M. I do agree that the park gear and extra gears of the M8540 and 9540 would be quite nice.

I currently find that I need to switch between 4L and 1H which is not particularly convenient as it requires a range change.

Regardless, I'm just as thrilled as you with my purchase and Kubota poor as well.

Now go get that tractor dirty!

Congratulations. Although I don't own your model, I have a L4400, Kubota manufactures a quality machine. I have no complaints in regards to mine. By the way, BEANS and RICE are good for your health.:laughing: Hope you have many happy hours of enjoyable Seat Time.:thumbsup:

I forgot to mention that it has two sets of rear remotes, 3rd function valve for the loader on order, double rear wheel weights and the down swept exhaust from a 9540 low pro.

That's a mean looking machine! How much weight do the two sets of wheel weights add?

That is a good question, so I went and looked it up on the Kubota configuration site and it says "1 set - 164# each". Surely they mean each set? I guess they're 82# apiece. I'll ask for sure when I take her in to have the 3rd function installed.

Congratulations, you will really like your M9540, we have the 8540 HDC which is the same tractor as the 9540 and have been very happy with it.

good choice of the 9540 over the 70 model. i upgraded to an 8540 (hyd, 12 HD 12 sp) from a 7040 for the extra size/weight, positive transmission pk brake, hyd brakes, increased fel/3ph lift capability, & larger tires for traction.
it's just a lot more tractor. i did fill the rear tires though.
you won't look back!

Thank guys, just rolled 36 hours and I'm still as giddy as a school girl. I did develop a hydraulic leak this morning on a loader lift arm where the fitting is crimped to the hose, dealer told me to take it to the local hydraulic shop at his expense, a whoping three miles from the farm. All is good now.
