Hi Guys i've been watching this forum for several years. Until last year i had been using my Buddies 1982 JD 2040 for the needs around the house. Brush hogging, logging, Post Holes, road maintenance, etc. I'd been dreaming about getting a tractor for the 6 years since i bought our place. I'd Narrowed it down to a NH4030, Kubota M series 7040 or 8540, or a JD 5065M (Pipe Dream) . Last December i'd traveled to Rosy Brothers a large Kubota dealer in the area to look at a used MF for my buddy with the the 2040. I got some quotes and test drove the 8540. Later that month my wife decided she was going to surprise me for Christmas and got in contact with the salesman. She was all set to have it delivered to the house but at the last minute she decided to take me to the dealer to make sure it was exactly what i wanted.

Sadly I don't have pictures of me getting stuck in the swamp when i fell into the ruts the skidder left behind. They were under about 3 inches of water and and about 20" deep. Between the loader and a long cable attached to the 2040 we were able to pull it out. We were retrieving that big chunk of swamp oak.
