Looking at 2 used Cub\'s...7264 vs 7205

I'm looking at two different Cub's for sale. The first is a 7205 at a dealer with a FEL and BH with 250 hours and they're asking $13,500.

The other is a private citizen selling a 7264 with FEL/BH/MMM and low hours (don't know how many yet) for $17,500.

Is there any difference between these two tractors besides HP?

I was thinking about offering $15,500 for the 7264 as the HP would be nice. Your thoughts?

Thx,
clattin

Re: Looking at 2 used Cub\'s...7264 vs 7205

What year is the 7205? What condition is it in? I think $13,500 sounds pretty good for a machine with FEL and hoe. 250 hours isn't that much. Do you plan on mowing with it? The 7205 is a heavy machine for its size (20hp). It is built by Mitsubishi. If you want some specs, you may be able to find some old ones on the net or you can check out the Mahindra 2015. It is the same exact machine. I think they are good quality machines. If you will be mowing, the weight of the machine might be detrimental. As I said, it is a heavy little bruiser. It weighs about as much as the Kioti CK20. The heavier machines are better at FEL work and ground type work, while lighter ones are better at mowing.

As for the 7264 I am not to familiar with it. This is my opinion of course, but from looking at the two I thought the Mitsubishi built machines were a better quality. I really like Cub Cadet, but if I were to choose between the two I would go with the Mitsubishi.

Good luck with your decision! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Looking at 2 used Cub\'s...7264 vs 7205

I've got a 7264 with loader and BH and other attachments.
Mine has a Diahatsu engine which has been around for years in the Far East. I like the engine / machine.
I did encounter some "minor" problems early on ,which for the most part were covered under warranty.
I like the size of mine for my needs.
'Have no experience with the 7205.
Good Luck,

Re: Looking at 2 used Cub\'s...7264 vs 7205

I would say if you can get the 7264 at a fair price I would probably take it over the 20HP model. I agree the Mitsubishi is an excellent tractor, I have a 7234, a little bigger frame and tractor than the 7205, 'but' there are times I would like a little more HP. This was my first tractor but now that I am fairly comfortable in using it and its capabilities I would prefer a little more HP, 27 - 30 HP range, w/HST. I'm not sure if that model Daihatsu is a proven model but they certainly make a lot of other larger, industrial equipment. Let us know what you buy.

Re: Looking at 2 used Cub\'s...7264 vs 7205

I had a 7200 (the gear version of the 7205). It was a nice tractor, but a lightweight. I had a bucket half full of rocks and drove one wheel into a hole. I am pretty sure that I bent the frame on it since the fan rubbed the shroud afterward. There wasn't much of a loader frame on it either. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
