looking at a 1070 with FEL, 8A backhoe, front 7 foot hydraulic snow plow

Little help. stumbled upon a year (i think mid 90s) unknown 1070 with FEL, 8A backhoe, and a 7 foot hydraulic snow plow, canopy. Seems like the 1070s get good reviews. The unit has less then 500 hours on it. Seem like its in good shape. Asking a bit more then i was originally going to spend but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. What price range would you guys place this at? thanks in advance. No leaks, looks like it was well maintained and not used much.

First, Welcome to TBN!!!!

The 1070 is a pretty solid machine and parts are till available (although I doubt you need many, other then filters and consumables).
As far as pricing and assuming your description is correct...and considering it has the 8A backhoe, my estimate would be somewhere between $15K and $18K if a private sale. Dealer price might be a bit more.
If you're serious, don't dawdle around...I'll wager it sell pretty quickly.

BTW, are you sure that's not a 970?

thanks for the quick reply. Yes definitely the 1070 and the 8a backhoe. the gentleman said he the dealer offered him 18k for it and he wanted 20k. He is the original owner said he paid 33k for it brand new years ago. Is the condition worth the premium? I think is has 3xx hours on it. its 4wd also forgot to mention that

To me, that's borderline high (especially for a private sale)...the 1070 went out of production in 1998, IIRC, so it's 14 years old (at least).
Now, the reason I asked if it was a 970 is that there is a 970 (370 hours) with backhoe and canopy on the Erie CL. Dealer is asking $19.5K.

So, how badly do you want the tractor? It would probably be a good fit for your acreage. So would the 970, BTW.

im not in love with it at 20k thats for sure. I will see what his thoughts are. Found a few on craigslist and your right. his seems kind of high

Welcome Chimmy. 1070's are nice machines and clean low hour ones are kinda scarce. I bought a 4WD 1070 with 440 loader and 8b backhoe at an estate auction in June 2011. The unit is a 1997 model with unloaded turf tires and the deceased was the only owner prior to my buying it. The unit only had 26 hours on it. The entire unit was in new condition and I've not put any more money into the unit after purchase. I don't think the backhoe was ever used. For reference purposes, my JD dealer said $15,000 was about the max to pay for the unit. Then add the sales tax and buyers premium to the $15,000. In Minnesota, that put the total out of pocket cost at roughly $17,500. My out of pocket for the unit was $17,300. By the way, does the unit you're looking at have the 3-point arms and the owners/techincal manuals? Hope this helps you. Good luck with your decision.

I have the same equipment setup ... 1994 JD 1070 with 1000 hrs, 440 loader and 8A backhoe. Since I purchased about a year ago in a divorce sale ($10k smokin' deal for all) I have been tracking 1070 prices across the US via Google Alert. Most are Craigslist which have now expired, but typical pricing is $14-16k maybe a bit more with the backhoe.
