I wish I could be of more help. When I was purchasing my last tractor, I had looked at the 1433 and 1440. I ended up with a 1445, but if I had to pick between the 1433 and 1440, I was going to go with the 1433. PTO horsepower was not an issue for me at the time (26 vs 31), and I also was not sure about the turbo. To be honest I haven't heard any complaints about the turbos - and I assume they are real solid. That being said, the 1433 and 1440 is the pretty much the same tractor except for the turbo. If you are looking to do some heavy work, my feeling is that the best thing to look for in a compact tractor is weight. Even the 1433 would have enough horsepower that traction would become an issue long before the extra power of the turbo could be used. The only caveat to this line of thought is if the tractor is going to be used primarily for applications like mowing, where the extra PTO HP can let you run a larger cutter. I eventually went with the 1445 because it was a much heavier machine weighing about 1,000 lbs more than the 1433/1440.
I'm not sure what your plans for the tractor are, and at what price the 1440 is being offered for, but if you like the 1440 - you should also give the 1433 a look as well since it will probably be cheaper and will be able to handle just about everything the 1440 will. Although I may not be providing you the help you are looking for, I have at least looked at the 1440V when purchasing my last tractor, and I wanted to give you my thoughts about it.
Good luck and happy tractor hunting!
