Buying Advice Looking at a Ford 1700

The price sounds good for a 4x4 loader, How many hours?

I have a 1700 also. 2wd no loader, ~2700 hours. I don't use it that often, but when ever I need it, it's always ready to go.

I kinda abuse this tractor as it's a second back up machine, often leave it outside for months at a time, but like I said it's always there when I need it.

Seems to be a very capable machine, wish mine was 4x4 and had power steering, then I would baby the thing, keep it forever. Especially since the engine and drive-train have been so reliable.

Oh yeah it sounds real nice too, had it running yesterday and thought to myself this tractor sounds sweet

Can't comment on the parts availability since I never needed anything other than oil filter and a battery. I have a NH dealer in my town.

On a similar note, our church purchased a 5020 AC in 1980 to mow the church grounds with...

That unit was made by Hinomoto and parts would definitely be hard to get since Hinomoto no longer makes anything...

The tractor to date has over 2500 hours on it and the only thing that it has ever needed was filters and oil...

The darn thing just runs and runs and runs and runs...

Most of these Japanese compacts, whether they be made by Shibaura, Iseki, Hinomoto, Yanmar, Mitsubishi, ect...have good track records of reliability and dependability...

I would not be scared of a 1700 Ford if it was a well maintained unit...

I have a 1910 and have had a few issues with parts but would buy it again in a minute it beats a thirty thousand dollar purchase and a payment easily.
and for the record a man who stands behind a counter does little else in my experience.
