CT230
I am almost a new owner of a CT230. Dealer is finishing the final pricing and I should be able to take delivery next week. There is a GT72 for sale near me for $1400. Will the tractor handle that or should I go smaller on the tiller or bigger on the tractor?

We have been thinking about uping to the CT235.

Thanks

Shop with open eyes.... I did the same thing... started out with a my eye on a CT230, then started to look at upping it to a CT235, ended up with a real swell deal on a CT335 earlier this year. Ask the dealer if he has any "Specials" or "Demos" with full warranties. I ended up taking the CT335 for less than the CT235 and about $500 more than the original quoted price on the CT230. And this was in March, before the supposed announcement that the CT335 was being dropped from the line. I am so glad I made the move as the larger tractor is much more stable and able to do so much more work than what I would have been limited to had I stayed with my original intention of the CT230.

I have the CT230 and I have been plenty happy with it. Have I found things that I could not lift with the FEL, of course but overall the size of the tractor fits what I need it for 90% of the time perfectly. I only have 4 acres that I use it on though.

Personally, if you were thinking of going bigger than the 2xx series, I would skip the 3xx series and go for the 4xx. If you look at the FEL specs, there is very little difference between the 2xx and 3xx series but a big jump to the 4xx series. There is also a thread on here somewhere that says the 3xx model is being discontinued.

I have a 60" County Line tiller and my 230 has plenty of power to run it. I assume the one you are talking about is a 72" and I would think either a 230 or 235 would have plenty of power to run it.

I will mention that I got my tiller on sale new at TSC for $1100 so you might consider that when looking at the price of the one you are talking about. You don't say whether that is used or new.

The tiller is used, I would think the 60" would work fine for what we are going to use it for. The area is freshly dug and smoothed over. Don't expect to heavy duty filling, but never know what someone will ask for once the tractor makes it home.

I have the CT225 and run a 60" tiller, have plenty of power doing it and wished I had a 72". At 60" with R1 Ag tires tiller just barely cover the rear tire tracks. With R4 GP tires the tractor is 64' wide.

I have the R4's on my 230 but even with the tractor being a little wider than the tiller, I don't notice any tracks in the dirt. I was a little worried about that myself when I bought my 60" tiller but after reading several threads on here with others having the same set up, I went ahead and bought it.

I think King Kutter makes a 66" tiller if there was a concern but I can say that you will be fine with a 60" unless you just want/need bigger.

Just considering HP, I don't see any problem with running a 72" tiller on a 230. Bobcat has 3 tillers in their attachment line up a 48", 60", & 74". The CT230 is listed as acceptable to run both 60" & 74". Downside of going with the larger size is getting done too fast, lose of seat time. Each time I hook it up takes me about an hour to run through both graden plots then I set back and think "that was fun now what else can I do before putting the tractor away?".

I like the thinking of more seat time...wife keeps saying we can just rent one when we need it. She is probably right, but I will keep looking just in case we find a good deal.

ct235 runs the 7ft selectatilth tiller with ease. used to run it on a deere 3120 and that worked fine.
