Boy was it ever tight! Took both little covers off and sprayed some PB Blaster in there, as well as externally. It was a bear to loosen up but was finally able to get it free enough to operate with the lever (which was disconnected, BTW). Got the tractor unloaded and even used it to push another tractor (a Kubota which I bought for parts earlier on my trip) into the barn out of the weather. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can get the YM2000 up and running properly without smoking, but gotta few other things to take care of first.
Another topic, but it looks like my alternator might be bad.

The Alt. shouldn't be a prob. Check all the wires and connections. Take it to Parts store and have it tested with the Regulater also. The diagram in the first reply is for a 2000. It match everything on mine. I had trouble with my Crg Sys. also thats why I kept the Dia. I got it from Norm on Hoye site when we was trouble shooting the Prob. It had both us going and come to find out the Dealer I bought it from used. When I had mine tested the Alt and Reg. showed they were good which was the upgraded Solid State but my light continued intermittingly start to blink  It was PMO. took me awhile until I finally found the problem. New Battery cable cleaned all the connections I thought and still it would start blinking. I ended up keeping a volt meter with with the Tractor when I used it. 14.25 dc. and it would start flashing. Eventually stumbled into it and ended up being a loose connection on the back of the fuse panel that somehow became loose. Tightened it back up and now it works like a Champ.;) Curiousity of the new Solid State Reg. being on it and the Old Reg still was in the dash so I hooked the old one back up and it works fine. :ashamed:

On my panel for the connection to have come as loose as it was is just another sign of it being a VN'er. Not much to it and if a fuse link does blow I use the old style Fuses "glass" and just remove the fuse link. That all went on when I bought it over 4 yrs. ago without any problem what so ever. So IMHO VN'er all over it and If it ain't broke don't fix it :D
