IH 656 / AC WD / TYM T554HST cab
I am looking at buying a used compact tractor. I am wanting a cab and FEL. 2 are currently available about 8 years old each and around 500 hours. Both look good and no issues. One is a Mahindra 2555 and other is a New Hollland Boomer 3040. Aside from the horsepower difference, any other pros and cons between the 2. I will mainly be brush hogging with a 5 foot bush hog and mowing with a 7 foot finish mower. I will also do general property maintenance. I am really leaning toward the 55 horsepower but not sure on reliability of the 2. Anyone have any insight?

Mahindra is notoriously hard to keep running, probably last in desirability

I asked my local Kubota dealer (30 minutes away) (Mahindra dealer is 60+ minutes away) if he'd repair the leaking seals on my Mahindra 3525 that has less than 800 hours on it. He replied with a quick no and said it was a nightmare getting parts. I don't know how the 2555 is built, but replacing the brake seals on the 3525 means tearing the thing down to the transmission case to access two $40 seals on the brakes.

Wow I am glad I asked. Mahindra wasn't even on my radar, this one just popped up, I hadn't really researched it much. I have researched LS and Kioti mostly. Best I can tell this NH Boomer is made by LS. I have an LS dealer 5 miles away and gave me a real good price on a new LS MT357 but I am having a hard time justifying the price of a new machine for my needs.

The 2555 appears to me a TYM built model, I presume your 3525 to be an actual Mahindra? I would think that there would be a number of parts that would be easier to aquire through TYM.

Just something to consider. 🤷‍♂️

The 3525 appears to be a direct descendant of the International Harvester B models insofar as the brake/transmission case assembly is concerned. The same brake pads fit the 3525 as the old IH B models. It took me several calls to three different Mahindra dealers to find a parts guy who could look up the correct seals. I can get the parts, but the ROPS, loaded tires (400-500lbs each), hydraulic assembly, and some other parts have to be removed just to replace these two seals which are not externally replaceable. The parts guy at the dealer that sold me this tractor was too busy to take my calls when I called and never returned any of them. I finally got the information I needed from a dealership 3 hours from me.

My recommendation to the OP is to be very, very selective about buying and try to figure out if there is a dealer that will actually be there for parts and service when he needs it.

If it's a 3040 Boomer it is a Shibaura built Boomer. I wish they were still Shibaura. They were a lot nicer than the LS built new ones.

That Boomer would be bulletproof other than if it has the CVT transmission. They had some issues.
