Kubota BX25D
Hi All. I haven't been on in a long time so I haven't really been keeping up with the new models and innovations. I currently have a 2013 Kubota BX25D with 450 hours which I love and has been dead on reliable. My local dealer has also been great so I am leaning towards staying in the Kubota family.
The reason for upgrading is I want more capability, and I really want a cab. This will be my last tractor (Maybe) and I'm getting too old to be out in the cold wet snow 5-6 hours at a time.

I'm looking at a B2650 with a cab and backhoe. I mostly use the loader & backhoe but occasionally put a box grader on a couple times a year for driveway maintenance.
Things that are important to me.
Reliability & ease of maintenance.
Good dealer and parts availability (Shout out to Pipersville Lawn in Garden.)
Price and resell (I know I said it is my last tractor but you never know)
Made in the USA or as much as possible. This has always been important to me but lately I've have time to reflect just how important it is.

My local dealers whom I would consider.
Kubota (Pipersville, 15 mins, Eagle, 20 mins, Mid-state, 30 mins)
John Deere (Souderton, 25 mins)
Kioti (20 mins)
Mahindra (25 mins)
New Holland (Smith 40 mins)
Massey Ferguson (35 mins)

Lastly what is my BX25D worth? 450 hours has the thumb, box grader & 3pt. Meticulously maintained. Only issues are, the light switch, one of the steps for the backhoe is missing (I learned these are not tow hooks), and I got a little too aggressive with the power washer and blew a few of the stickers off. Other than that it is a well loved machine.

About a year ago, I traded in a BX2350, 750 hours, FEL, 60” mid mount and a manual rear blade for a John Deere 2025r. They gave me $7000. I’d think the way yours is equipped it would be around 10k, maybe a touch more.

In JD they make a aftermarket cab for the 2 series which looks factory but no AC (I think). I think you have to step up to a 3 series to get factory cab and AC.

You really can’t go wrong with a Kubota but it never hurts to look around.

I agree with Dodge man, doesn't hurt to look around. But, if you have been happy with Kubota and your dealer, why change?

Short story - had an L3200 and made a nice heated cab. Not air conditioned though. Didn't want Final Tier IV, so bought used L4240HSTC from the guy not too far from you in the link below. Sold L3200 HST on Facebook Marketplace. Prefer selling outright rather than trading. Brother-in-law bought an L4740HSTC from same guy a couple years before that. Both of us wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Sounds like you are sold on Kubotas (I am too) so why make a change? I would caution you not to take the first trade in offer you get. Some dealers are pretty greedy when taking a trade in. I had a M4900 and wanted a smaller tractor and bush hog. I got prices on my new one from two dealers and they were within $200 of each other. Then I went to the first one and asked him how much he would give me for my M4900 and 6' bush hog. I guess he was ashamed to make me an offer in person so he said I'll do some research and let you know. I got a message from him the next day and he offered me $7000. I immediately told him what I thought about him, his relatives and his dealership. I took a few pictures and put it on Craigslist for $13000. It sold the next day to the first person to come look at it. I'm sure I sold it too cheap. I called the Kubota dealer that offered me $7000 and told them again what I thought of their dealership. I wouldn't buy a quart of oil from them now.

a dealer buying something like a tractor for 25-50% less is pretty common on trade. Dealer has overhead in cleaning it up, fixing it potentially. Floor space costs me, labor to keep it nice and try to sell it and then has to pay tax on income of selling your machine. People often dont like trade offers and yeah looking at numbers only it kind of sucks, but think you miss the business aspect here of it and your hatred is kind of misplaced. While 7k may have been low end, anything in the 7 to maybe 9 range is probably reasonable. With your own numbers if I gave you 9 for it and sold it for 13, my potential profit is 4k, minus 20-30% in income tax, labor to clean and sell machine, best guess I make 2k off your machine maybe a little more.

I have the 2650 i can tell you its the only tractor in that size and below that has a factory cab along with heat and AC. After having a cab, there is no way I wouldnt have AC, unless the doors could easily come off.

If you go forward with the 2650, I recommend having the tires filled especially with the cab. It needs the extra weight as it is narrow for its power. You might want to consider wheel spacers too if you operate in hilly areas.

Re: trade in. I just got the trade in value for a New Holland TN85 (85 HP 4WD FEL). I was offered $15,000. I asked the dealer what I could sell it for myself and he said the retail value was somewhere between $20,000 and $24,000. This has been my experience on Kubota trades as well. The dealer doesn't want your tractor! You can inquire about your dealer selling it on commission if you don't want to sell it yourself. They usually charge about 10% if you buy a tractor from them.

well said my 2650 tires are filled. Regards to trade I dont think its not that they want it, its about margins. They either have to cut value by half and make guys above irate or take it in and get pennies. Cars they can usually get closer but are dealing in volume, tractors arent.

Based on a couple of phone calls I got before I could delete the CL ad and the big smile on the guy's face that bought my tractor I'm sure I could have gotten $14K and maybe 15K for it. The Kubota was low hours and in tip top shape. The Rhino bush hog was older but heavy duty and in great shape as well. I understand and agree with dealers' overhead, labor costs, etc. I've been self employed before and experienced them myself. What I don't agree with is greed and this dealer was greedy.

I've never heard anybody factor in the income tax the poor old dealer has to pay on his profits. That's a new one on me. If they are so concerned about the income tax they will have to pay on their profit, then they should bump up my trade, thus lowering their tax liability. My dislike (I don't hate anybody) for this dealer is not misplaced at all.

As a side note, this dealership was where I originally purchased the M4900. I traded in a Massey Ferguson on the Kubota and felt like I got an OK deal. Since then the dealership has changed hands, changed names and new owners had taken over. I hear they are not doing well as the family that had it for many, many years. I think I know why.
