Buying Advice Looking at Kubota L3400 TLB

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a small tractor for use on my 30 acres with a loader and backhoe and there is one I am going to look at nearby that seems to fit the bill.

It is a 2006 Kubota L3400 with LA463 loader and BH75 backhoe. It has the shuttle shift and industrial tires. It only has 75 hours and has been stored inside.

The owner wants $21,500 OBO. I know they were around 25-26k with this package. What would be a good offer? Any other things with this model and year to look out for. Seems there are problems with a jerky 3pt.

It's not a bad price! Just start offering and see where it goes.

RE: Jerky 3ph - Depends on the serial number, the valves were changed in early 2006-ish (I have the SN for the L2800, when kubota changed the valve but not the L3400). Also, it's mainly a problem for when you need fine adjustments. If you plan on just raise and lower it all the way, not that much of a problem. Short movements rock your world. Besides, why would you ever remove the backhoe??? :laughing:

Does the backhoe have a subframe? Make sure it does...

Ask if the return hydraulic hose was replaced... if not, it will need it soon ($25+/-)

The suspension seat locks up... it should travel up and down 3" +/-, just takes effort to free up.

Go to a dealer and price out a new one... that would let you know if the price is good or not. Not many of these (with so few hours) come around. Teg

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I just went to look at it this morning and it is in pretty much new condition. Hardly any scratches even.

The guy said he would take $20,000 for it. Right after I looked at it I went to the local dealer (which happened to be 4 miles away) and they quoted me $27,000 for the same thing new. Its like getting a free backhoe almost.

Now time to decide:confused2:

Wow. They sure have crept up in price. Is it 27k with sales tax?

Either the dealer is not giving you a very fair quote or the prices have really crept up.

I think most people on here who have the l3400 with FEL paid between 17 and 18k out the door. That would mean the backhoe is 10 grand:confused2:

I think someone even mentioned in another post that the L3700SU is only like 17,800 with loader. I may be way off base here but I think you should be able to buy that set up new for 24-25k and not 27k.

But that is still a good deal for a barley used tractor. I'd say you won't go wrong if you decide to buy it.

I got it! With only 75 hrs and it's good condition I couldn't pass it up.

The dealer quote was 25400 before tax for a new L3400 with loader and backhoe. Plus, they said the backhoe subframe mount was out of stock and could take months. Some production issue on the mount.

I got a chance to use it for a few hours. Fun! I am leveling a spot to put a shed for it.
