Kubota M7060
Hello everyone. Next weekend I will be looking at a Kubota M5040 2 wheel drive FEL with 7 ft bush hog. it has a little over 100 hours on it and it comes with INS. Looking online and not finding much price information. Do you think 16k is to much?

Tractorhouse.com has several kubota M5040 listings. The majority are DT models (4WD). 16K does not sound too high for only 100 hrs., loader and cutter; essentially a new tractor. You can offer less, say 14-15k and see what happens. Just keep in mind a 4WD will do more FEL work in less time and hold its value better if it is well maintained.

Well, I feel it may have been top money but I gave 18K for a M4900 last year. It had just under 600 hours on it. I think it is the predecessor to the 5040. This one is a 2005 model. Good used tractors hold their value. I think if you click on the image it will enlarge.

might check what was done for the 50 hr service. are the rear tires loaded (good idea being 2wd) how many rear remotes? the M xx40 series are great tractors w/o all the current emission stuff. price seems about right but agree w/coolnature to negotiate. best

thanks for the response.
coolnature I agree with you. if everything turns out well I was going to offer him 14 and go from there.

Big Bubba. He told me over the phone he did the 50 hours service and has the paper work. I am not sure how many rear remotes it has be it was a couple the owner said. I will have it serviced if we can agree to terms. thanks for the help.

great, doing your homework always pays off. again, w/a 7' hog, might look into loading rear tires for stability esp on slopes. best regards & of course, must have pics here if you go for it ..... btw going w/a 50 hp tractor in the M series imho is far better than one in the L or Grand L series but that's just my bias. M series is a league unto itself..... :)

One thing for sure - the tractor is brand new. 100 hrs - it isn't even broken in yet. Loading the rear tires with rim guard will give you 567 lbs/tire.

I'm hoping he doesn't sell it before I can look it. I am on call this week so it till Friday or Saturday before I can meet up with him. Me being new to the tractor world I had to look up loaded tires. its ok. I hear y'all laughing LOL!!
My girlfriend thinks that I am crazy for doing this. Working 40-50 hours a week primary job owning a small consulting business and now getting into this.

best on your tough decisions. wise to post here, even wiser to listen to your companion. made more difficult by the time constraints of the particular sale. filling rears can always be done as an after thought, but should be part of the deal if you go with it. keep forum informed. & sleep on the decision btw, filling the rears can be more of a headache should you get a flat (some places offer a mobile flat repair service on site rather than hauling the beast to them)...but having them loaded will not only give you more stability w/heavier implements, but better traction for fel & soil engagement tools, esp w/2wd ) just a thought best regards

We've found owning a tractor will almost always result in a flat from time to time depending on what you do. We've hauled them to the repair shop, had them repaired in he field or done it ourselves depending on time available and the size of the tire. On our last one my brother filled it with wiper fluid purchased locally in five gallon pails rather than have the truck come out and saved a few bucks.

We have three tractors without filled tires that ar used for mowing only, the rest are filled, filled with cast centers and filled with weights for stability and traction as mentioned.
