We have one here and it works quite good. I haven't removed the baffle yet to see how well it works in deeper stuff without the baffle, but it will handle everything but the tallest grass. Does great on brier bushes, shreds them into little thornless pieces.

One down side is that if you have a brand new motor and are breaking it in, you will be limited to what it will cut(tall grass) at the lower rpms. It really needs to be wide open to keep the flails flung out.

Im kind of curious,, how would one of these flails work as a lawn mower on a 2 wheeler? Would there be advantages or disadvantages over the common rotary style mower?

It does an acceptable job mowing a lawn. It can scalp when dropping into a rut. It shreds stuff up unlike a brush type mower. We mowed a lawn for someone who hadn't mowed for over a month a few days ago. Grass and clover over a foot tall in places were cut down in high gear and left as a even layer of fine mulch.

One of the biggest reasons it was chosen here is that it rides the ground on a large steel roller, that in combination with the blades not spinning in a horizontal plane in line with the operators feet and ankles. Much less chance of something being coming loose or being thrown at you foot, and if it did the large steel roller is between you and the blades.

What different blades are there for the Berta? I know there are a few different blades for the other 2 brands, including scarification blades. We need to get some of the scarification blades and fit them to the Berta.

That is where we got this one, but it has been a couple of months.

IMO the standard blades do a fine gob on a lawn. Even though the are Y shaped they overlap enough that you can't see that in the lawn.

I have one. Use it all the time.

There are other blades, but my wife likes the standard blades.

The Berta and Palladino mowers come standard with Y-blades, which will cut anything from grass and weeds to セ hardwood or 1 softwood saplings. They also can be equipped with straight 都carification blades, which will do light slitting of the ground for overseeding. The Palladino mowers can be equipped with 吐inishing blades as well, which will do a smoother job on a lawn (the Berta does not need this; the blade 登verlap is so complete and the blades so numerous that even with the Y-blades, is does a nice job on a lawn).
