Buying Advice looking at remanufactured fx28d with FEL

I'm totally confused:mur: I'm wanting to trade down from my 2000 Ford 3930 with FEL to something my wife can handle. I found an FX28D at a farm implement dealer that looked just the right size for approx 13k. Am I going in the right direction? (I have a friend that wants my 3930) Thanks for any and all replies.

I'd suggest searching this forum for specifics to this model.

I've been looking at Yanmars myself and reading what I can find here. I may be absolutely wrong but I've found a few mentions of 4 wheel drive failures that surprise me. Is this a weak part of vintage Yanmars?

At this point I'd suggest that you proceed cautiously and establish true condition, parts availability, and be realistic about your personal mechanical repair capabilities.

Thanks, Arnold, that's why I'm here. I haven't found much on this model though..Is that an indication of something I should know? This unit came from Fredricks according to the dealer. The dealers are local and family owned. I do trust them. Been reading this forum for a few days and have found it to be the best place to learn about Yanmar......Thanks to all!

I've been to the Fredricks site and was very impressed....This unit is exactly what I've been looking for...now it's just getting all the warm fuzzies to make me feel good about my decision. I cut my teeth on a '37 Case and a '47 Farmall H. times have sure changed! Thanks for all the help!

Does the Yanmar have a loader? If not, I predict you are going to miss it.

I have operated and worked on a FX24D. Smooth operating tractor.

Yes it does have a bucket...you're right, it would be missed. My wife calls my 3930 her 20k wheelbarrow. I've had the Ford since new in 2000 so it's hard to let go, it's been a great tractor..I have 22 acres to keep up and also I live on a dirt road so there's lots of scraping and hauling gravel. I'm 78 and just think it's time to hire out the heavy stuff.

What is the brand of the loader? If it's a Fredricks tractor it will have a Koyker loader , Certified ROPS, and other safety equipment

It's a model 155. I believe they get their tractors from Fredricks so it does have the ROPS and seatbelt.
Guess I'll have to make another trip to the dealer..about 30 miles from me and spend a little more time and ask more questions..thanks for all the words of wisdom I've recieived here.
