How else can I say it.....
Last year I bought a 4 in 1 loader/bucket for my tractor, after reading some of the posts I come to the conclusion I should have recieved a hood guard and ballast box with the loader, which I did not, also I believed I over paid by at least $1500. $6000 is what I was charged.I had dealt with this dealer before and I thought I had a good relationship etc....
I guess this is what it all comes down to when you do not shop around and bargain and I put too much trust in the dealer..The tractor was already in the shop and I thought it would be a good time to have the loader/bucket/scv's installed.

Steel,

I don't know much about the pricing on 4 n 1 loaders/buckets. Someone else here posted a while back that he got a Woods 4 n 1 for around $4500.00 Don't quote me on that. I guess if you feel like you got ripped off I would go out and see if you could get a quote from another dealer for the same product. Get it in writing. Then take that back to your dealer and tell him, Listen I trusted you and you ripped me off. And then ask him what he is going to do about it and if he won't do anything about it, tell him you will broadcast this all over town. Don't know if it will help or not but maybe will get you something.

Steel_Wheels,

Like Murph said--get something in writing and send it directly to the owner.

Last July I purchased my 4010 and several attachments. After reading through posts, I thought I had paid more than most were being quoted. I emailed another dealership who emailed a quote back that had some rebates on the tractor and attachments--I did not get these rebates.

To sum it up, I faxed the owner a copy of my purchase agreement and a copy of the quote. He researched it and said the "salesman didn't know about the rebates because this was a new model. In addition, I was due some rebates on the attachments". Not sure if the salesman wasn't aware of the rebates or if he was gouging me, but in the end the owner stepped up and mailed me a check for $1200.

Good Luck

Bob

Yes you probably were full retail. I wouldn't say your dealer cheated you or overcharged you. Any business is going to give you a better deal to get you as a customer. May even lose a little money up front, it's a common marketing practice. But at some point they have to start making some money. They can't give you the lowest price everytime or they will go out of business. I think it's up to you as a consumer to know what the price is and what you want to pay for it.

As good of a customer as I have been to our Jd dealers around here they will still quote me full retail whenever I go in or call about some equipment. I better know what I think is a fair price before I go into it. Same with autos. If you just call and get a price you are going to get the full retail usually.

I guess what aggrivates me is he did not throw in the hood guard and the ballast box....Then again I should have done my homework better......and been a little more careful.Best thing I can do is lick my wounds/chalk it up for experience and be more careful next time....

I guess when I purchase things and this is how I try and run my business. Be fair with the customer, charge a decent price for a decent product. Be able to give them service after the sale. I will not ever drop my price just to get a customer. When that customer comes back for more I want to be able to take care of him again and again and again and serve him right. I want that customer to feel comfortable with me at all times. I really don't see how Steele could ever go back to him and not feel cheated or even trust that dealer again. Steele trusted that guy. No one sells for the retail price especailly when some of this aftermarket stuff can be bought just about any place. I really don't think a dealer would stay in business very long if he only sold at the retail price. I know I wouldn't stay in business if I sold at retail. I want customers to come back to me with a smile on their face.

Again I go back and say, I am not sure if Steele got ripped off because I am not sure of the pricing for what he got, but it does look like he did pay a premium??????

just my 2 cents business cents.

Steel-wheels I understand your feelings, but the reality is noone gives you anything. I have called dealers for $ and as posted most will only give you list, unless you dicker with them or say you are high. If a dealer has it in stock it helps with the $. Price posted for bucket only w/3rd function hose kit was 1370 + 266 for tooth bar. For accessories if you are going for other than Deere try other Brand dealers. This can help sometimes and hinder others.
