Looking for 7 pin RV plug that doesn't break.

Every winter I break the cover/lock on the RV outlet on my truck at least once. The really scary parts is the brakes are the first to be pin to come loose.

Anybody have any good or bad luck in different brands or models?

I have been considering converting to a semi truck style hoping to have better luck. But I'd rather not have to convert all my trailers and build adaptors. Thoughts...

I bought one of these at the local Rural King Farm store. I am now seeing them in Wal-Marts.

To be honest I have owned about a dozen trucks, mostly Fords, but also Dodge, GM, Toyota, and Nissan and never had one break. What in the world are you doing?

Thanks for replies. I did do some looking a round before I started this thread. I would like fix the problem once and for all. The reason I ask for help is the poor pics and info I could find from the manufacturer and distributers.

The lid tends to break while hooking up when the temps single digits or colder. I have been using the kit from Farm & Fleet for my Tahoe that plugs straight into the factory harness.

I guess it gets a lot colder up there. Too be honest I really do not tow much from November to March so I miss the real cold temps around here. Also my trucks and cars live in a heated garage so when I do tow its back out to the barn and hook up the trailer. Everything is still warm.

Maybe buy a Ford one? My truck and its 7 pin connector are now over 14 years old....and I do a LOT of trailer towing.

I had the same issue- I bought the reese brand. The pin holders is made of plastic and after 4 years, the salt and cold finally broke the door. This spring I am gonna replace it with a stronger one that I found at walmart called tuff something. The only problem I have now is that the brake controller light is on green like as if there is something plugged in?! I put grease on the pins to keep salt off since there is no door.

I do not want to brag on Ford again but you may be on to something. I never had a issue with any of the 6 F-150's, 2 F-350's, F-250, or Mercury Mountaineer I have owned. But had to replace the one on my 3500 Dmax within 6 months due to a loose pin.

Not to bust your bubble but the semi-trailer style have there faults also.
