Depends on the grass height.
We have a Kubota L4310HST (35HP PTO). If the grass grows to over waist height, the tractor needs to slow down moving with a a 5' rotary mower.
I bought a generic mower and if had to buy again - would purchase a 6-7ft flail mower.
HST is nice for matching mower speed, but you may wish to try a hyd. shuttle or GST.
