Looking for a 28-32HP (Washington State) Yanmar 4x4 tractor. Which one is better?

You might want to check out Coldwater Tractor in Hoquiam, Wa.......don't don't about there current inventory but they use to have quite a few Yanmars. Good luck in your search and welcome!!

From that link, the YM2610D would be very attractive. It's basically the John Deere 850 with PowerShift. They measure the Hp actually very conservative. The YM2610D is 31Hp. Look it up on a few sites like TractorData.com Or the JD specs for the 850 via the Unv. of Nebraska independent testing.

A YM3110D would be really sweet, but the cost would be much more over the YM2610D.

Yep, you add 20% to the 1st 2 digits (pto hp), on gray market tractors to get approx. engine hp. Someone incredibly deduced that years ago because of the made-for-US YM240 and gray market YM2000 having identical engines.

Where in WA do you reside? Here on the west side all the Yanmar dealers are gone. Brim has several locations, look on the internet. It is good to have a dealer close by. You may want to rethink your brand.

Folks don't buy gray market Yanmars because of dealer support, but strictly on price and quality.

If you live in the southeast USA, Fredricks does have a good dealer network to support you. Their 1-year warranty is another plus!

Other than that, there are several areas of support for the Yanmars. All within a days' drive and back or in less time for most of the US population. So, I would concur that support isn't within close reach living in the mid-west.

This list isn't everything. There are still others out there as gray tractor dealers, parts, service, and add-ons. Don't forget your local John Deere Ag parts counter and service too. Yanmar made tractors for JD from 1979 to 2007. Many parts are cross referenced IF you know the Yanmar engine in the JD tractor. I've been building a long list of the JD to Yanmar data and hoping to post it shortly in the Yahoo Yanmar Groups file section. In a few instances some of the Yanmars were painted JD green without any major changes and sold here in the USA as John Deeres'.

The pricey ones are at the top with FELs, but scroll down to the bottom for the YM2000 or YM2210. The YM2610 is sweet with the better Hp, PowerShift and size. The YM2610 shares 90% of the parts with a John Deere 850. The price is about $500 more than Fredricks in Alabama, but within your state, it's still a good deal.

In the pacakge deal, for my use, I would pick the Starter Package for $7K. It has about everything I need less a post hole auger/digger.
