I have a 1970 John Deere 820 Generation II 3-cylinder diesel tractor. I have been looking for a front end grill guard or hood guard for it but have had no luck finding anything that is made to fit it. I believe John Deere made one for it back in the day but I don't know how to find the part number for it or whether it is still available. I might be able to find one on a parted out tractor but haven't found one on any of the websites yet.
I have restored the tractor and it has a nice paint job (it was my Dad's and he bought it new--I drove it after school the day it was delivered when I was 10 years old back in 1970). Anyway, I have some heavy mowing to do and don't want to tear up my paint job any more than I have to so I need a guard on the front end.
Also, can anyone tell me if there is a grill guard that would also allow me to add some weights to the front end? I move round bales with a three point spear occasionally and they are a little heavy for the tractor.
