The motor is 1/5 HP , the Capacitor is 110v,105-130 MPD. The terminals are posts with nuts to attach wires. This is for my piston pump, I have found some but they have clips instead of a post with a nut. IMG_0051.JPG

Those should be pretty commonly found at Johnstone or any local electrical supply house. Of course you could look for them at Mouser or Digi-key on the internet also. However the push on clips are much more common, You might have to crimp on some simple automotive push on lugs onto your existing wires. The rating is in MFD meaning microFarads

I needed a capacitor for my old Montgomery Ward motor recently. I just took it to the local motor shop and they matched one up for me. Less than $30, I was back in business.

Thanks for the replies, now the motor quit running completely, i have been pulling the pulley to get it started, now it just died. Do you think the capacitor finally just gave out? or is something else wrong now? Does the capacitor purpose only to help the initial start or can it run without one?

That depends. There are start caps and there are run caps. Which you already knew. I don't know which that one is.

I believe the capacitor I located was a start capacitor. It is in circuit for phase shifting until the motor reaches a predetermined speed at which point centripetal force opens a switch and the motor runs without it.

If you dont want to crimp new ends on your wires, it might be easier to make some little ring to spade adapters than to track down an odd part.

Where does that capacitor go on the motor? I don't see that it was designed for one. Did someone add this to a motor designed for unloaded start. I have seen those motors in the past and they were on small attached fans (no belt drive) not pumps. They were called a split phase type motor. If I am right and you want to keep the jury rig, just get a capacitor of the same rating or close. Probably find one on Amazon. W/o the capacitor to help the start cycle you may have ruined the motor or burned out the internal starter switch if it has one.

My guess is an HVAC tech will fix you up in an instant. They replace capacitors on fan motors every day. Carry an assortment in their service truck.
