Looking for a new riding lawn tractor.

I am looking for a new riding lawn tractor to mow approx. a half acre lawn. I like the v-twins and a 42" deck. Simplicity has resurrected the Allis Chalmer name and is building these tractors using the basic simplicity platform with Allis Chalmer hood, paint and decals and they are a little cheaper than the Simplicity brand. (they have a different deck) Consumer reports rates the Simplicity pretty low on their reliability and performance charts. What can you tell me about your experiences with Simplicity?

Lets see if I can remember all this,[no,I can't!],but simplicity makes the LT200 snapper I think,briggs bought snapper,don't know how related briggs is with simplicity?

Snapper sells some of its cheaper models at box stores[or did],I bought a LT 200 snapper,which I was told wasn't sold at box stores and tractor itself was made by simplicity,? Very confusing.

Simplicity I was always told was a very good mower,as was snapper[before all this selling out],so it harde to say.

Mine has a 50 inch deck and 22 hp briggs intek extended life series motor. I have only used it twice,but seems like a pretty good mower,time will tell on that,cost close to 3 grand.

If you go to your local dealer he will gladly point you in the right direction.
He is there to help unless he doesn't want to keep your business,I have a Conquest 20 hp. with a 44" deck and a 42" 2-stage snowblower. It mows great best cut my yard has had. I bought the Conquest instead of the Broadmoor because of the larger tires and bigger hydro unit and couldn't be happier.

I bought a 22hp Craftsman 50" lawn tractor in 1993 that is still going strong. It has the heavy duty 6 speed dual-range manual transmission and a sleeve hitch for garden implements.

It's shameful how I've abused this mower over the years and it's taken everything I've ever given it. It is TOUGH. I've used it to cut a couple acres of yard grass, bushhogging, turnplowing, cultivating, you name it. Never had a problem with it other than routine maintenance and a belt now and again. Of course, it looks like it's been through a war!!!

Before you get a new one, have you looked on craigslist? I got mine for $550. I have a 22hp Johndeere L118 with 42" deck. When I got it it had always been babied and looked brand new. Now, i have a minor repair, fix the steering columb because I think the gear came loose so I will try to tighten it up. It runs like a brand new one! Good luck! Can you believe im only 13!

I have a Broadmoor (16hp 44' deck) that I bought new in July of 2003. I mow about 2 1/2 acres with it. At this point it has 331 hours on it, and has served me well.

Let me just say this. Any machine worth anything should handle your 1/2 acre for a number of years without problem. If it doesn't, that company's top people should be hung by their toes.

For just a half an acre, I would certainly look at something cheaper than the Simplicity. They are good, but in your case probably overpriced for your needs.
