Massey Ferguson 1552 Cab Model
I just got my 1552 cab model and I'm looking for ideas for toolboxes and where to mount them. Any ideas folks?

You do know about the "toolbox" directly behind the seat I hope? Probably not the most convenient, but handy storage if nothing else.

I have the 1547 Hydro model.

Look under the floorboards on your left side when sitting. Under the floorboards there is a ton of room to put a toolbox and it is out of site.

If the one beihnd the seat is too small you might consider mounting one on the outside below the upper rear cab window

I kind of laughed when the dealer showed me that one...I could maybe keep a pair of gloves in there, but not much else! :)

I'll have to look into this area.... I have a cab model and I know my manual stated that the reservoir for the windshield washer fluid was located there...I don't know if there is additional room besides that...?

I have been thinking about that myself.... I found these two:

TRACTOR TOOL BOX RED - Agri Supply

Valu-Bilt

I think I would go with the first one as it's a little bigger...

Thoughts?

Well, I ended up getting the box from Agri-Supply. It came with "universal" mounting brackets, alas, no directions on how to assemble them...

No problem, I is an engineer! :)

I was able to mount the box using existing holes and brackets on the tractor and I used their "universal" brackets as well. My only changes to their design (so far) was to utilize lockwashers on their hardware. It appears pretty sturdy so far; it managed to stay on the tractor after a couple hours of brush-hog work.

I'll try to get some photos this week/weekend and post them up!

OK as promised, here are the photos. You will note that the box has a somewhat unusual mounting method; the brackets to the left and right do not connect in the middle; the box wedges into the brackets via a groove running along the back of the box; the box is then secured using the thumb screws. Once secured, the whole system is quite rigid. At first, I was going to replace the thumbscrews with regular hex bolts but then I thought it might benice to remove the whole box of tools and bring them to the front of the tractor, for example to perform a repair...

Anyway, here it is, let me know what you think!
