I have two ramps that measure 2' x 12', steel decking welded to 2 3/8" pipe frame to be used for a bridge (for 4 wheeler) crossing a creek. Want to be able to place ramps from one side of the creek. Have a 3240 with FEL. Looking for ideas on how to rig attaching to the bucket and extending the ramp out in front far enough to reach the other side. Maybe set the bucket down on top of ramp and chain in place?

I just did this myself with some 10' metal ramps. Placed the ramps on some blocks in the yard. Drive up and gently set the loader bucket down atop the nearest end. Chain up tight, and go. They did shift around a little during the drive back to the creek, but it still worked out fine.

Thanks Deez. I figure mine weigh about 400# each. Probably have to make two trips. Do you think running a chain from the forward end back to the top of the bucket would help?

Can't hurt, I guess! Just make sure you can get the chain off once you drop the ramp into place. Mine had holes in the middle that I could loop the chain through. Too bad I didn't grab any pics for ya!

Treat the ramps as if it were a boom pole using the 3pth.

A chain to the far end that comes back to the top link location
The near end gets "clamped" to the tool bar (somehow).

Lift the 3 point, and up she comes. A come along to that top link allows "fine tuning" of the carry.

I moved two 4 foot X 14 foot sections of cedar decking this way. worked fine .

I did something similar a few years ago. I was given three nice cherry logs each about 9 foot long and 20 to 24 inches in diameter. All I had to unload with when I got home was the old m610 bobcat. I set the bucket on top of the end hanging outnthe bed of my pickup and used a pair of tongs with a chain to grab as close to center as I could reach. Then lifted and curled the bucket back as needed to raise each log, one by one, and set them down on the ground. Worked great and I was done in about 10 minutes.

Where did you fasten the end of the chain? I guess the tongs were in the log. Thanks for your idea. Bill

Thanks for all the great ideas! Personal experience seems to be the best source of info. Using the tractor will certainly be my best bet for this project. I like the 3 pt. idea, but having it in front will be a little easier for the drive down to the creek. Bill
