Looking for Input RE: Deere Sub Compact with Yanmar Engine

I'm considering purchasing a Deere sub compact, somewhere in the 30-35 hp range and wondering if anyone has any input on the Yanmar engines Deere uses for these smaller tractors?

I looked at small tractors in the early 80's. Deere was made by Yanmar then as it is now. Had I bought at the time I had settled on Yanmar. I'm sure if there was a problem you could read about it here.

The Yanmar powered Deeres are nice machines. Some of the newer ones are a Deere machine with a Yanmar engine and some of the older ones are Yanmars built for Deere under contract. I don't think you'd go wrong with almost any.model.

The 3X20 series are Yanmar powered and have been very good machines. I've had a 3720 cab tractor bought new in 2007 and it's been very reliable and trouble free. You can do a search on 3320, 3520, and 3720 and do a lot of reading here on this forum. The center of gravity on the 3X20 tractors has been topic of many discussions but there are remedies if this is a concern.

I have a JD4110 with a Yanmar engine. (2004) The only complaint I have is once every two or three months I have to add a gallon or two of diesel.

I used to own a JD870 (1996 build) and had it for 14 years. This was a Yanmar built...but JD branded tractor. Loved it. The only issue i ever had was a broken front end drive gear....apparently this model was known for that issue).

Id have never sold it...but i needed a cab.and more power. 28 HP just didn't go far enough

I have a very low hour 1989 1070. It is a Yanmar built machine and it's a tank. Wouldn't hesitate one bit picking one up.

I like my Yanmar 870. Low hours though with about 500 hours in 13 years. Lots of hours the first year or two. A few fuel filters and a battery has been the only maintenance besides oil changes.

Yanmar is a top name in small diesel engines, they are used extensively in tractors, generators, construction equipment, and the marine industry.

Have you considered the Yanmar brand of tractors? Maybe a cheaper alternative to the expensive green paint? Any thoughts from the others?

I've had a 1995 jd855 since new with a 1 litre yanmar. never had a problem except as above-having to add fiesel every so often. even tho mine has low hours, i think it's a great motor and don't hesitate to recommend yanmar!

Have had my 455 Yanmar now since 1999, 2500 hrs +. Only problem was sticking fuel solonoid which I solved by coating it with olive oil. I use Mobil 1 fully sythectic Turbo Diesel 5-40 oil. Oil light came on once (1,000 hrs ago) when I was mowing on steep hill but I believe since I was using fully synthetic oil the engine has been fine.
