2010 John Deere 4120 4wd
I need to repair my John Deere 4120 front axle seal. To do that I need to remove a spanner nut. The only way to do that is to obtain a John Deere spanner socket which is only available to John Deere service techs. I found one online and it was over $100. John Deere dealerships can get them for $55 yet none will loan me, rent me or sell one to me. The socket part number is KML-10008. Does anyone have one to sell or know where I can buy one at a decent price? I cant afford to take my tractor in to the shop at $100 an hour for repair and want to do it myself. I have all the replacement parts needed but I cant remove the nut nor replace it w proper torque if I could remove it

Just a make it yourself suggestion. Take a old socket of the approriate size and mark out the 4 little fingers on the edge around the socket. Then take a small grinder and remove the metal that isnt needed. A cheap and easy spanner socket.

The nut is 2.693" OD. Sockets for 1/2 & 3/4 ton 4wd trucks will be a smaller OD.

I'd try and get a piece of 2 1/2" sch 80 pipe, it will have an OD of 2.875, and make your own.
