Kubota B2650
I am thinking about purchasing a new Kubota. I bought a L3800 with FL and BH last year which works really well, but I need something with a stronger BH and FL without breaking the bank. I originally thought about the Grand L, but the dealer recommended going with either the L4600, then after doing some pricing, the dealer suggested the L39. He said for the price difference between the 2 that the L39 would do allot better. He said that the L39 has a stronger FL and BH. I do allot of digging and use the backhoe allot for digging up tree roots, excavating, etc. I will be building a new house in the future also. The only thing with the L39, I think it only comes in a GST and not an HST. The dealer said that it comes in the HST, but I think he is mistaken.

Any thoughts between the L4600 and the L39? For the price of the Grand, am I paying for bells and whistles that I don't really need?

The L45 which I just bought is pretty much the same as the L39 but it does have the HST.

If your going to upgrade, take the plunge and go for an L45. They have a lot of the features of the Grand L's, much more powerful hoe/loader and HST that the L39 doesn't have. As much as you say the bells and whistles you don't need, once you have them, you realize you need them. I just upgraded to a machine similar to the L45, a 110, from my 3120. The 110 is built on a a frame earlier than the 3120 and you can definitely notice the differences. Though subtle, things like no cruise or tilt steering suddenly become more noticeable. Are these things game changers? No, but they sure are nice. And with the L45 your getting the goodness of the HST+ system which is another one of those things where your not reinventing the wheel, but is very nice. I would say to skip the L4600 and if you really want a digging machine, look at a comparison of L39/L45 and my money would be on the L45.

I don't want to jump too high going with the L45. Money is an issue. I started off with the L4600 and for $2000 more was considering jumping up to a L39 and that was pushing it. Now I see that the L39 doesn't have the HST which is a big deal for me.

If I go with the L45, I am now jumping up about $5000 from the L4600. I am also wondering if I jump from a L3800 to the L4600 if I am gaining very much. If I go to from the L4600 to a Grand 3940, the price is jumping up about $2500. The bells and whistle that I don't need is stuff like tilt steering and stuff like that.

I do like the L39, but the GST and not HST is a deal breaker for me.

You might find a few new L45s out there on the lot that is new but may be a 2009 2010 and get a good deal plus the 60 month 0% interest

That is exactly the reason I went with the 110 instead of one of the Kubota models. I wanted HST, so the L39 was out and the L45 was far out of my budget. Even looking used the L45's were out of what I wanted to spend. Because of the 110's being out for so much longer than the L45 there are a plenty of them for sale at really great prices. I got mine with 630 hours, HD bucket, grapple, forks, top and tilt 3 point hitch, HD box blade and a thumb on the backhoe for $26.5k and another $2.5k for shipping from MT to MI. The 110 specks out very similar to the L45, so there isn't much loose. Not saying that it's the solution but at least worth a look in my opinion.

You really need to consider the L-45. I bought mine about two years ago, and love it. I was going to buy a L3240 TLB but the dealer was not expecting one in for a couple months. He did offer to get one from another dealer though. He had the L-45 on the lot. At first when I saw this thing I was like no way, too fancy, too big. But after demoing it I went for it. Let me tell you this is spot on for what you want to do. Spend the extra money and you will see for yourself. If I read your numbers right there is a $7,000.00 difference between the L39 and L45. If you were to finance the purchase for 60months it would be about an extra $117.00 a month, well worth it I think. You will be happy you did it for the life of the tractor(not sure on how long you were planning on keeping the tractor). For that 7 grand you get a lot more tractor in my opinion.
