I have a real old Toro Zipper walk behind sickle mower. I need some sickle sections for it and having a real problem finding them. the sections are 2" wide by 2 5/8" long. The base below the tapered cutting edge is 7/8 inch from the bottom. The 1/4 inch holes are 5/16 inches friom the edge, 5/8 inch from the bottom and are 1 and3/8 inches apart. Thank you to anybody that can help me out.

dayvkl,

Welcome to TBN forums!

Those sections are smaller than most, but I think you can find what you need at this website:
sickleservice.com

But be prepared for "sticker shock" (about $85 for 25 sections as of Sept. 2008). That's almost three times the cost of "normal" size sections. Supply and demand....

Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find part numbers 207-230 (smooth edge) and 207-231 (serrated edge). Those have the correct hole spacing (1-3/8"). If you click on the part number, you'll get a very large picture of the section. I shrunk the picture until the hole spacing was as specified, and then measured the width and length. The width was 2", but the length seemed to be a bit over 1-3/4". If the sections are too long, they might interfere with the sickle guards (if your sickle bar has guards), but there should be a little clearance. In a pinch, you could just grind 1/8" off the tips of the sections.

They have a "contact us" link where you could send them an email inquiring about your sections. Maybe you can get a smaller quantity; it doesn't hurt to ask.

For the parts I mentioned above, they list a price (Sept. 2008) of $3.37 and a quantity of 25 (that's $85.25 + shipping). It's painful to think that they want 3.37 each and force you to buy 25 of them. On the other hand, you'd probably have enough sections for the life of the mower.

TedLaRue, Thank you very much for the reply to my question. I will have to keep measuring to be sure. It looks like the holes might be off just a tiny bit. Iv'e had the mower for a number of years and never used it a lot, but it is handy for tall grass and weeds. I used to sharpen the sections the best I could, but a year or so ago I broke one section and it put me out of commission.

Have you ever heard of or seen a Toro Zipper? It looks almost like a Jarri mower but it's really old. Thanks again.
