Hi Gang,

I live on a rural road with a 55mph speed limit, and must drive down the road about 1/4 mile to get to the pasture on my property (my pond blocks access directly from my property). Because I need to drive on a rural road (even for a short distance) I would like to install turn signals on my 970.
I have looked for pictures and/or part numbers of the optional turn signal kit, but thus far, have only found some of the individual parts ( for example, the actual switch).

If you own a John Deere 670, 770, 870, 970, or 1070 and have the optional turn signal lights installed, I would love to see a picture of how the turn signal mounts. I simply cannot see how it mounts just from looking at the individual parts.

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Joe

In the meantime, I'd make sure the yellow flasher lights are working and would be off the road waiting for any traffic to pass before crossing the road.
Inotherwords, I wouldn't rely on a turn signal to be noticed among 55 mph traffic. Not worth the risk, even tho one might be "in the right" it just might be "dead right".

Thanks. My yellow hazard lights work perfectly and I use them anytime I am on the road. With the dearth of responses here, I am guessing that the turn signal option was not very popular. Speaking of driving on the road... yesterday I was driving to my pasture when a truck passed me at very high speed. It literally made me jump. Normally when people pass me, they drive slow. This no talent ***-clown decided he would zip by at full speed. Honestly, it scared the **** out of me for a few seconds.

Always be observant where the other traffic is on the road with you... don't mean to sound like a lecture, but when going slow on a 55 mph highway, many others have no concept just how slow you are going.
I'd put review mirrors on your tractor before I'd put turn signals on, and then you can more easily monitor your traffic from behind.

I lecture for a living so I see the value of it... Lecture away!

The rear view mirror is a great idea, but where in the world would I put one? The only thing that seems like it could work is the exhaust stack. I will use the all-knowing Google to see if I can answer my own question.

I've thought about a mirror on the upright post of the FEL, but am thinking you don't have the FEL yet.

Finding a spot without a roof liner or cab is not easy. Have heard some go with a rear view camera... but that is a stretch. :D

I've hose clamped a P/U truck's large mirror onto my exhaust stack about 1/2 way up. Its very sturdy and does not vibrate. It can interfere with the left loader frame when its in the optimum position but I can rotate it out of the way into a secondary position that would be terrific if I was hollow.

While I'm thinkin' of it, another handy set of lights I've added to my 1070 are two driving lights facing backwards mounted on the rear fenders. I cut a rocker switch into the case of the right side light so I can optionally turn them on when the main lights are turned on. Great for night mowing and baling. There is a power lead hiding in the roll bar.

Pictures on request.

I would love to see pictures of both the lights and the switch.
Thanks so much!
