Looking for suggestions on building a tractor leaf vacuum without a mower deck

Why is it that in the "do it yourself" forum, a poster's request on "do it yourself" lawn vacs results in commercial postings?

Anyone can search the web and get the commercial offering photos etc. I suppose it can serve as example, but I did search on this same topic in the DIY forum and got the same "JUST BUY ONE" postings in return.

I LIKE the DIY resourcefulness!

Think outside the box!
Rant over.

I do not know what you are complaining about, If I wanted a large lawn vac, to pick up a large amount of leaves I would build a DIY unit like of the commercial units I posted,

NO WHERE DID I SUGEST TO BUY ONE,

ever one of the commercial units once started out as DIY project most likely, and then refined and then manufactured,

They said you wanted a large lawn vacuum,

they consist of about three things, a vaccum unit, most are of the high volume pressure type fan,

(I show many a place of there impeller design, if not where one could buy the impeller),

2 a box to blow the leaves in to,

3. some type of a pick up head,

the box could be built out of ply wood , steel may be able to find some other item and reuse it,

the fan is about the only difficult part, to DIY build,

there are stand alone (engine) driven models, and a PTO unit, you have both tractors, from what I could read, since a 20 hp engine is in the price range of $1500 or so and you have a PTO tractor, thought you may have an interest in that route,

Heck I even like the powered dump features, but if that is not in the budget the slant bottom hopper is the answer,

when I build some thing I look and find things that work, and usually copy them to some extent or blend feature of a number of unit,

JUST BECAUSE SOME THING IS MANUFACTURED DOES NOT MEAN ONE CAN NOT BUILD SOME THING THAT WORKS LIKE IT, LOOKS LIKE IT AND ACTS LIKE IT,

just look at what people build on this forum, some build very simple and some build some very complex projects,

not that long ago I would have thought a back hoe to be out of reach of many DIY, yet there are many building them and using them, (hey even I built a back hoe, a hydraulic post driver, auger post hole digger, front end loader, under fence mower, tool bars for the farm tractor, rebuilt machinery, large PTO driven air compressor, Grass seed harvester(pull behind for the tractor), many tools in the wood shop sanders, horizontal shaper, vertical shaper, and many many more,

NO WHERE DID I SAY GO BUY ONE- NOW GO MAKE ONE.

Ideally you would want a radial type fan (material handling) for the vacuum source. The forward curved fan could begin to accumulate larger leaves and cause the fan wheel to be out of balance. Pulley driven to increase the shaft speed from the pto rpm would help create the required suction.
