When I was looking for a used tractor, I had many to choose from. But as I am looking for used implements, I am seeing nothing advertised. Am I looking at a wrong place (magazine)? Or people just don't sell implements? Thanks.

rlee6-
I think it depends on your geographics. You have a better chance if some of the dealers in your area service farms. While looking at tractors, both new and used, I saw all sorts of stuff laying around. Check around your local swapper magazines as well. Up here in N.E., we have a great thing called thewantadvertiser.com You name it, it's available. You can get magazines (around here) or try that website. But being in Fla., it's probably not that helpfull for you. I'd say do a google on used farm equipment or tractor parts. Or look here too.
Good luck

I've got half a dozen tractor dealers within easy driving distance of me. All of them have huge lots full of used equipment that you can spend hours wandering through, runs the full range from lawn equipment to BIG farm equipment. Even if they don't have exactly what you need it gives you a pretty good idea what's available. Watch for equipment auctions, farm sales or even garage or estate sales on farms.

I haven't looked to see what web sites may be applicable to your area but have a look at agdealer for an example of what to expect. Most dealers I am aware of have a yard full and more of used implements. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do a search for Florida Market Bulletin, also look at auctions. Kissimee Auctions just had a huge one.
Here's another good one. Look to left and choose your city or use advanced search and choose multiples.used stuff nationwide
Good luck.

Locally we have a few dealers selling implements and a flyer called the Trading Post that has everything from Hay to baby items in it. The trader is not found in the Supermarket and such, but at the little country stores like Mom and Pop places. It is actually a pretty hot item, comes out on Wed and sold out on Sat. It may be down your way, lots of good deals. Anyway always put a good eye to what you are buying used. I have bought a 5' boxscraper and a regular blade from a local dealer with some mixed results. When I bought the box I could tell it was a little torx at the top link but ended up working find. Saved about $200. Bought the regular to scrape snow, a heavy duty with both vertical and horizontal adjustment. It looked fairly good, a little torxed but hey he knocked and extra $75 when I pointed it out. Worked pretty good until I pulled it up and carried it a distance. One edge dropped as the pin could not kept it in place because of the play, just a little too torxed. I will be able to fix it but I was not that happy. From what the dealer said that there is a lot of stuff wrecked by using a too big tractor for the size implement.

I have run into the same problem around here trying to find attachments.
What few I do find around here are priced like gold.

And others I find that are reasonably priced are too far away to go get.
For shipping costs I could buy new equipment here.

I'm starting to think people around here would rather let it rust into
the ground before they sell it for a reasonable price.

Don't know about your area, but around here you can drive out through rural areas and smaller towns and find small used equipment lots fairly easily. Finding exactly what you want may take a while. Most of the land in this area is farm and ranch land so it may not be typical of your area.

Only thing you find when you drive out thru the country in central Florida is used mouse ears.

I was looking for a 5ft box blade or a rear scraper blade.
A neighbor gave me an old 5ft snow plow blade off a truck.
So now I'm in the process of scrounging up steel to make a 3pt hitch for it.
Almost there, but still need some flat stock for it.

Don't really need any more implements at this point.
There are several I would like to have, but don't need.

How far are you from Bristol? I know there are a couple of places there with good new attachments. Mary and Son or something like that. I plan to go up there as soon as I find out..........Good luck

I was having the same problem. I can find used implements everywhere but they are all too big for my tractor. Around here Ag tractors are more popular than CUTS. When you factor in shipping costs or gas prices to go get used implements you are better off buying new. Found a used box blade at a local dealership but one sacrificer was missing and the box needed welded down one corner and they still wanted $150 for it. I'd rather spend the $350 for a new one. And used rotary cutters are often all beat to ****. So I'm going to buy a new rotary cutter and BB. I can use my neighbor's rake and PHD and I don't think there is really anything else I would need often enough to buy. If there is anything else I want to use like a rototiller I will probably just rent it.

Consignment auctions are a good place to find some bargains. I bought a brand new 6' box blade at one last spring for $380. The next best price I could find prior to the auction was $425. I bought my new PHD at a local farm supply operation for $375. These little farm supply places (selling feed, gates and some equipment) can have some good deals, as they have low overhead, unlike the big boys like TSC. I bought a Dearborn 2 X 12 plow off some guy up a hollow for $175, it included a new set of points.

There is a consignment auction in a town near me (Morehead, KY) in the morning. I'll probably go by there and see if I can pick up a bargain on a disk harrow.

Here in the North Valley we have Ag Ads (lot of heavy ag equipment, but some smaller stuff), Wheels and Deals (has a tractor/implement section), The Nickel (a little bit of everything) and the Tehama Trader (local stuff in the county). These supermarket freebies usually have a bunch of tractors and implements listed every week. I'm sure there're equivalent sources in your neck of the woods.

A good source in East Tennessee is "Lady & King" near Bristol TN. They are next to the Bristol Speedway. They have several acres of new and used attachments.
