Looking to buy first tractor- Need a little help

I'm new to the forum but I have come here several times in the past for knowledge and have found this site to be very helpful. I'm finally ready to get my first tractor (rented a lot until now). I'm looking at a few New Hollands in the 30-40hp range. I found one that seems to be a good match for what I'm looking for and looking to spend. The only problem is the person selling it doesn't know what kind of tires are on it and before I go drive 200 miles I want to be sure as I'm looking for R4 tires. He doesnt own a computer and his son took a picture to send me with his camera phone but it doesn't help much. I was wondering if anyone here could help me figure it out- do these look like Ag or R4 tires? Any help would be great as I can't quite tell myself.

Welcome to TBN. Hard to tell but the front do look like R4.

Those are R4s. I have a friend with a TC40, looks a lot like this one and his has R4s, same as this. I think the ags would be narrower. You could always ask to get another picture from the rear....

Well, what a crummy picture, but my first impression is R4, due to the overall "meatyness" of the rears, and the fronts look like R4 to me. Really hard to tell, but that is what I think. Here is an idea, how about sending him 2 pictures, one of a R4 and one of an Ag tire, and ask him to say which type is on his tractor. Just an idea

I thought of the "email him a picture of both" thing but go figure- he doesn't have a computer hence the cell phone pic from his son- who of course is gone now so I can't really get a pic anytime soon. I kinda think they are R4s as well but it's just hard to tell. I'm gonna ask him to get the make and model of the tires tomorrow and that should tell me.

Thanks all for the input and it turns out they are R4's. I talked to the seller this morning and had him look at the tires and they say "Titan industrial lug" on the side of them.

Now I just have to find out if it's a supersteer or not

Looks like I'll probably be buying it this weekend if all checks out OK. It's a 2003 TC35D 4x4 hydro with 540hrs. He's the original owner, stored indoors and seems to be a fair price @ $12,000
