I've owned a RTV900 for two years now and no complaints.

Some have had front drive shaft rattle - I haven't - Kubota developed a fix for those that do.

Some have had hard shifting problems - I haven't - Kubota now installs a hydro dump control on the 2006 models.

Some have had foggy gauges - I did at first but they seem to have pretty much cleared up on their own - others still have the problem and Kubota hasn't seemed to fix the problem for them yet.

I've owned ATV's, Odysseys, Pilots, Gators, Mules, a Rhino and an RTV. If you're looking for the best driving, best handling, strongest, and durable UTV, you can't beat the RTV. I currently have had my RTV and Rhino for almost 2 years. If you want to go for a white knuckle blast on the trails, the RTV is not for you. If you want a powerful diesel unit that puts all other UTV's to shame with it's powertrain, a reliable, durable, powerful, and extremely smooth UTV, then the RTV is for you.

The power steering is dismissed by competitors as being not needed. That may be so, but power steering is really not needed on your family car or on your pickup either, but it sure does make things much nicer! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif If I'm not wanting to make super fast runs on the trails, but have an enjoyable ride, the RTV is by far the first pic. I think all of the other UTV's use a belt for their drive system. The true hydro drive system on the RTV puts it in a class of it's own. You have more durability and more control. You will not ever have it freewheel down a hill or have to put up with the belt drive that is never as smooth. My best advice is to take one for a drive and look how it is built as compared to others.

I use an RTV on my farm almost daily and am very, very impressed with it. I also have own various brands and model of atv's and utv's. I have owned 57 new John Deere tractors so I am a die hard Deere person, except for their Gator. The Kubota won my hard earned money over whelmingly. I have had no problems with my RTV, but I come to a complete stop before trying to shift. This is the nature of hydrostatic transmission regardless if it is Kubota or John Deere. The disc brakes and power steering are fantastic. The machine is no speed demon, mine only goes 27 m.p.h. on flat surfaces. Hope this helps!

To all who say they have driven a gator keep in mind the new HPX is light years ahead of the older ones. I had a diesel 6x4 and it can't come close to my diesel HPX. Just something to ponder while your trying to make your decision. Although I dont really know how it stacks up against the others ive had a hard time finding a place that I can't go with mine.
