Well, I drove around today and stopped at my 2 closest dealers... they were within $100 of each other on quoted prices. Haven't done any haggling yet, and don't really know that I need to... their offers were a lot more off MSRP than I expected... and I think pretty fair. I think I'm pretty much sold on the 3525. I told my first dealer to let me know when he gets one in (he was setting up a new order as I was talking to him) and I would let him know from there because I didn't want to sign on the dotted line without first having seen in person the tractor model that I'm going to buy.

My old 8N does what I need it to do, but not very well, and it's just getting tired and worn out. So, with 10 more HP, I think the 3525 will be a huge improvement... at least 2 or 3 orders of magnitude better... I won't know what to do at first I'm sure!

Power Steering
Live Hydraulics!!! LIVE HYDRAULICS!!! (this is the hugest improvement possible!)
Live PTO!!!
Front End Loader

I can't wait... I should have just signed on the line today, but... the wife isn't too happy about it... but I think she'll get over it. If she had to run that 8N down in the woods and stuff keeping all the stuff she wants done taken care of, then she would understand I'll bet.

I'll post pictures when I bring her home!!

The 3525 will be a BIG improvement over the 8N. The 8N was a fine tractor in its day, but its day was 60 years ago.

Cool!! I'm sure you'll like the new Mahindra. I grew up on a '50 8N (Dad bought it new--also the year I was new as well). Don't forget the pictures....BobG in VA

What do ya mean "was?" Why, everything was better 60 years ago.....men were men, women were women, cars were American, Milton Berle was the raciest thing on the picturebox, and Truman was giving them Commies ****.

We don't need your new fangled super-hydro-power-everything tractors with all their lights and buttons and wiz bangs. Makes a body get soft riding around on their cushion seats (metal is just fine with me and the way God intended it to be), with their cabs and ACs blowing in their faces (get some sun, sweat a little...it makes a man out of you), front-end loaders and hydraulics doing everything for you (makes a body lazy), and then you plug your table-top fancy computer into the thing when it breaks so you can figure out what's wrong with it (instead of rolling up your sleaves, getting down, bustin' your knuckles and getting a little grease on your Polo shirt and Birkenstocks like a any self respecting gas station mechanic.)

Bunch of namby-pambies. By God, my 8n was all the tractor any real man needed and that's the way it was 60 years ago and we liked it that way.

Ha Ha! You guys made me think of Dana Carvey on Saturday Night Live!

"Grumpy Old Man: I'm oooooold! And I'm not happy! And I don't like things now compared to the way they used to be. All this progress -- phooey! In my day, we didn't have these cash machines that would give you money when you needed it. There was only one bank in each state -- it was open only one hour a year. And you'd get in line, seventeen miles long, and the line became an angry mob of people -- fornicators and thieves, mutant children and circus freaks -- and you waited for years and by the time you got to the teller, you were senile and arthritic and you couldn't remember your own name. You were born, got in line, and ya died! And that's the way it was and we liked it!"

Check with your dealer about a package deal. I got the 3325 with the FEL, box blade and 5ft cutter as a package deal.

And see about a canopy like Etch has on his. That's one of the next things I'll be looking at.

Shemp,

Really, the only thing I need is the tractor and loader. I've already got the shredder and all the other stuff for my 8n... just need some new power. As far as the canopy, that would be great except for when I head down into the woods... I think it would be torn up in short order down there. OH, a rear tiller would be great... I've been shopping those too, but will likely have to wait on that at least until next year.

I could use a flatbed trailer, though!! But, unfortunately, there won't be any package deal like that in these parts... Everything's Ala Carte around here.

Have you ever been bush hogging with an 8N (or any Ford N for that matter) and have the 'hog run up on a hump on a hillside, and just kill the tractor dead before you even have time to react? That's the makings of a really great day! You're stuck there until you can get a jack and either jack up a rear wheel or jack up the 'hog and let the pressure off the gears... or maybe you can get lucky and hammer it out of gear (I hope I don't break anything...) And, you can't slow down to try to see and avoid... every gear is too dang fast, and if you throttle back, then you don't have enough power to get through what you're cutting down. Well, there's no shortage of hillsides or humps here where I'm at...

You happy 8N owners will know what I'm talking about.

JoeInTX, you're right... you've brought me back to my senses.. I think I'll stick with my 8n.

NOT! ;) :) :)
