Allegheny County police accused an unlicensed Kentucky man, Eric Gonzalez-Huerta, 23, of causing the accident. A tire from his uninsured trailer popped off as he drove south, hauling material from a construction site. He told police he didn't notice a tire missing until he stopped in McKees Rocks, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.

“It killed the driver on impact,” Frank said.

Gonzalez-Huerta had been contracted to haul debris from an unidentified construction project in Ford City, according to a criminal complaint filed against him. The complaint did not state for whom he was working. It said the pickup and the trailer were registered to Gonzalez-Huerta. He did not have a valid driver's license, and neither the truck nor the trailer was insured, police said. Gonzalez-Huerta is an illegal immigrant, according to the complaint.Police charged him with causing an accident involving death, a felony, and license and insurance violations. He was awaiting arraignment in the county jail late Friday. Police said Gonzalez-Huerta left the scene. A man driving behind him on Route 28 told police he saw the tire come off a trailer with a black tarp hauled by a white Ford F-450, according to the complaint. The witness followed the truck to the McKees Rocks Bridge."

Not to steal the trend but I had a semi rig tire cross a median, bounce and hop over the hood of my car.
I was doing 70-80 and assume the semi was also. That would have been a 150-160 MPH tire entering my windshield!

Just was not my day to buy it!
