1*How can 8/7/07 be an unknown date when you know what the date is?
2*Why is it Krogers fault?
Why did the wife buy it with that date on it?

Most grocers snack shelves are not stocked by the grocer's staff, but by the snack companies such as Toms or Frito Lay. It will be interesting to find out what Kroger says about it. That is a way out of date product.

Perhaps it was store brand snacks instead of the major brands. ???

Im curious if thats a date of expiry or maybe a date of manufacture. Sometimes dates on products can be kinda cryptic.
I had a web paged saved somewheres that gave the date format that alot of common products use but i cant find it anymore
. I remember some products posted a date of manufacture and were good for a certain time from that point. If i find the page again ill post it up.

I've eaten cereal out of boxes, which were unopened and three years old. I couldn't tell it was three years pass the expiration date. I'm sure others could.

We do most of our shopping at Kroger's (or my wife does) And when we ever have had a problem they have always gone out of their way to make it right.

We got some MREs (meals ready to eat) as a government handout after Katrina in 2005. Many of them were dated as made in 2002. Still have some and I ate one last week. Most of them are surprisingly good and better than the store bought canned versions. Some of them are marked "recheck in 2008" so I guess I better finish them off soon.

Most food stores are really good about exchanging or replacing items. Small $$$ for them vs possible major hassle. I bought some pre-stuffed chicken breasts at a local up-scale market once because it was my day to cook and I had no imagination. My nose isn't much good, so I didn't notice anything when I unwrapped and cooked them, but I did notice a sour taste...and so did the wife. I took them right back to the store and was a bit loud at customer service as I described my problem. Double my money back, quicker than my 401k is falling!

Those things will probably be good for another 20 years, We use to eat the old canned rations after 20+ years, don't know how healthy they are but never got sick. Those mre's are great for a complete meal on the go out in the woods, use to be able to buy them in the surplus stores but not now with the wars going on.
