I have a 310 Lorenz snowblower mounted to the front of my JD 4320 compact. I'm having problems with it picking up wet snow. It seems to carve out where the augers are turning and the snow just stays out in front of the tractor, bunches up, & just gets pushed around. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?? Thank you.

Greetings neighbor, from Chattaroy! Unfortunately, what you are describing is perfectly normal for most blowers on most tractors. You could try upping your RPM's a little bit and increasing your ground speed a tad, but other than that if it's too wet it won't lift it. I'm at 3200 feet altitude so this last storm dumped about six inches on my property, plus it was a bit colder up here so not quite so wet. Temps are supposed to plunge so if you wait the snow might firm up. Good luck and regards, Mike

My 3 pt. rear mount 64" snow blower does the same thing during certain wet snow conditions.
As the blower moves into the snow, the wet snow just keeps piling up in front of the blower (acts like a snow plow). Every once in awhile, when the pile gets to be a foot or more high, the snow will go through the blower. You are probably also experiencing the wet snow getting packed in around the auger. Some folks use silicon spray to pre-treat the auger and discharge chute, in an attempt to reduce wet snow from sticking and plugging up these area of the snow blower. The wet snow will blow, it's just really stubborn stuff.

Have you tried to snow blow slush yet ?

When you do end your snow blowing session, insure to clean your snow blower of all the impacted wet snow or slush.
If not, the stuff will freeze and be like hardened cement to remove, and your auger and impeller will not move.

Good morning JD, from a little SW of you, out in Amber, WA. You will find that wet snow does not work well with any type - front or rear mounted - of snow blower. It just sticks together too much and will not fall back into the auger. If you do get it to "blow" - there is a good likelihood it will then freeze in the discharge chute.

And as DHD indicates - be sure to clean all the slush out of the blower. It will freeze up and the unit will blow a shear bolt if started next time in cold wx. BTW - when I had a blower - I would always first turn it by hand to ensure it wasn't frozen up. Saves replacing a shear bolt.

Thank you everyone. Glad to know that it's just not my snowblower. This is my first season with it so wasn't sure how it was supposed to work. Will try again once it gets colder and the snow gets harder. Also thank you for the tips on cleaning it.
