1997 Kubota M5400S
Hello to All,

This is my first post in the forum. I have 1997 Kubota M5400S and a credible person wanted to borrow my tractor to put-out a round-bale of hay. They borrowed it around 8:00pm CST this last friday night [dark]. When they returned the tractor around 9:00pm, a hydraulic hose was busted on the frt-end-loader and h-fliud was coming out pretty well. Everything was fine when I used it earlier in the day.

Since it was dark, I am not sure how much fluid leaked out, especially when the 1500lb bale was on the back. I checked the h-fluid dip stick and it did not even register anything: it usually reads 1/2 - 3/4 full.

After I get the h-hose fixed/replaced, was wondering what steps I should take to refill and not over-fill and make sure the transmission or anything else did not take a hit?

FInally, I bought Universal 303 H-Fluid from the Kubota dealer which is in there now, they no longer sell it, only OEM kubota h-Fluid [$80/5 gal]. Is it ok to mix with another compatible when I refill? Any good compatible h-fluid recommendations?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,
tstex

I always put in a gallon at a time and watch the dipstick until it shows full. I then go out with the tractor and run it up and down some inclines to make sure all cavities have fluid in them and then re-check the dipstick and fill according to readings. Ken Sweet
