So a few days ago, Betsy (my 580M Series II) was running fine. During the day I noticed the left stabilizer cylinder was leaking ( a drip every few seconds), so I decided to take her to the shop to get the cylinder repacked and also to have a couple of slow leaks addressed at the same time. I took her down to my dirt quarry and loaded up a few trailers of fill dirt, all with no issues. Left her for a couple of days and yesterday, noticed the stabilizer was on the ground. Turned the key and absolutely noting; no click, nada. Then I checked the hyd fluid level and it was completely empty. I was not in position to try and jump her, and it occurred to me that she might have a safety switch that shut power off when the hyd fluid is dry. Is that the case?
I plan to add hyd fluid and jump to start if necessary then head to the shop asap when I get back to her early next week. Would be great if all I need to do is fill up the hyd reservoir and she will start right up...one can hope.
