I lost my bike when I was a young kid in my cousins woods. I was out walking his property, when I happened to find my old bike after all these years. Got some work ahead to restore it to its old shape.

I'd say it's been a while.

I had a similar experience when I was about five my mother was sending to buy a loaf of bread at the local store. I was just coming home and she threw a $.50 piece down the stairs for the bread. I didn't catch it and it rolled to the edge of the wall and fell through a crack in the floor. For some reason I never forgot about it. About twenty five years later, the house long torn down, I happened to drive by, stopped, went over to approximately where the money fell through the crack. While brushing the dirt around with my hand I found the half-dollar a 1944 liberty. Is it the same one? I don't know for sure but I believe it is. It would be to much of a coincidence.
Like finding your old bike it brought back memories.

Not sure if your joking or not, but I'd think that with the tree in the middle of the frame, it's an attraction. I wonder if you can clean it up to like new condition just where it it. It would be kind of fun to show it to people and have them try to figure out how a bike ended up with a tree in the middle of it!!

I'm also thinking that if I do something like that now, it twenty or so years, I could have some really funny looking stuff in and around trees too.

Thats pretty neat looking. I'd leave it where it is just for conversations sake.
Heck, I may put some stuff over/around some small trees at my place just so when I'm long gone folks will scratch thier heads...

Before we bought our land I spent alot of timing walking the property.

I found and old still site where trenches had been hoed into the ground to either get spring water or flow the mash away from the fire. There is a spring right at the spot. I found the top of an old clay jug just like you see on Andy Griffith. We are near Siler City so maybe Otis paid a vist. :D There also was an old rusted kerosene can.

I also found a few old rusted oil cans. Big ones 2 quarts or which I have never seen. Its a pitty they are all but gone. There also is what looks like the piece of an engine cover for a tractor from when the land was logged 70 years ago.

Once we signed the papers I took that clay jug and it sits in our study. The engine cover or whatever it is should still be sitting on a big rock. I just left it there for posterities sake. Need to see if I can find it next winter. Should be unless someone tresspassed and took it which is unlikely.

One day I'm going to borrow a metal detector and see what is around the still site.

Later,
Dan
