Was cleaning out the tracks on my RC100 cleaning it up to do a service on the machine. Moved it around the yard a few times from the shop to the wash bay and back, etc... When I got in it after pressure washing the tracks the machine cranked up fine but the loader arms are dead. No hyd movement at all no up and down and no rotation of the bucket. The quick attach is working, but the low flow and high flow do not engage. When I move the loader arm joystick around i get absolutely no response, it does not even seem like the pump is engaging. One thing I did notice that I don't believe I have seen before is that when I toggle the two buttons on the top of the loader arm joystick the low flow light switch flashes green. Maybe it always has done this and I just have never noticed it.

To make matters worse, I decided to jack the loader arms up so that I could move the machine back to the shop and I got about half way there and lost hydraulic power to the drive motors. I can hear the pump engaging and trying to put power to the drive motors however the machine acts as if the tracks are bound up or as if there is brake engaged. When I push the track joystick forward or back the drive motors act like they are trying to move but something is holding them back.

The other thing I noticed after checking the machine over is that each time a cranked the machine up it seemed to get harder and harder to crank it. It seems as if the battery is going dead all of a sudden.

Has anyone had a similar problem?
Any suggestions, tips, or things to check and test would be much appreciated.

Thanks

When the alternator is not working the battery runs down & the electric things start to shut down. I have had it happen before & the alt. is usually the culprit!

Did you perhaps break or disconnect a safety switch somewhere that will shut down the hydraulics? Did you put a pressure gage in the system to check pressure. I am assuming that you checked all the fluid levels. Is there a shut off switch on the hyd filter?

Do you have a manual?

It sounds like it's either the solenoid or spool for the operator presense loader function. I had this exact thing happen to mine and replaced both. Usually it's just the solenoid which is not very expensive and hard to replace.

Thanks for all your help. I did finally resolve the problem. It appeared that one of the solenoids (Loader/Brake) shorted out and melted. I replaced and checked ohms on all other solenoids put the power generation block back together and she is working fine now.

The fix was inexpensive the solenoid was about $50 and the spool was $80 but it was a bear to fix. Since the machine was dead we had to get another loader to raise the arms so that we could raise the cab. Then we had to completely remove the floor of the cab to get to the solenoids. Nothing difficult just time consuming.

Thanks to all that gave advice.

Sounds to me like the resolver Block in the JoyStick. You may be able to get a used one from your dealer. It also could be a drive motor. If your dealer can't help you call Me I'll tell you how to check the drive motors.

Sounds to me like you need someone to troubleshoot/diagnose the hydrostat transmission

You'll need the manuals to do the proper pressure testing procedures and an experienced technician ........

Of the 100 or So RC/PT 100 we've sold I don't think we ever had a Drive Pump failure. I've seen a couple of charge pumps and a couple of couplers fail if it was a coupler you'd have no hydraulics at all. Your dealer can easily check the pressures for you but my best guess is still a drive motor, Check the case drain flow on the drive motors 1st. If the steering is erratic it may also be the Resolver Block in the Joy Stick.
