Some how my son was able to loose both keys to my gun cabinat. There are three small round locks, one for the glass door and one on each bottom drawer. Can a locksmith make replacements at a reasonable cost or can I just drill out the old locks and buy replacements? It has been over a year now so I'm sure the original keys are long gone.

If they are like the ones on my cabinet they are just cheap cabinet locks. If you have any key that will fit in the lock you can probably rake the lock. That means put the key and and slide it back and forth while keeping pressure on the turn and the two or three tumblers will slide into position and the lock will turn. You can also use a nice strong paper clip ect to rake the tumplers. if you can't do that I would just drill them out and replace them or just leave em drilled. I mean a gun cabinet with a glass door only keeps out medlers.

You did look on top of the cabinet??? Or behind it on a nail or hook?? Those would have been logical places to put the key.

It's a shame your not a little closer I could come over and pick the locks for you, remove the cylinders and originate some new key's. They sound like only 4 or 5 tumbler locks.

It's rather simple actually and if they are just regular off the shelf locks they will be very easy to pick. You might try calling your local locksmith and see how much it would cost for them to make a house call to originate some key's for you.

By round locks do you mean the kind with round keys or a standard flat key like in a cheap desk or filing cabinet?

If it is the 'barrel' cylinder style key, there will be a number on the lock cyl.. You can order spare keys to fit that number from the gun cabnet manufacturer.. I know this cause' i have done it.. for the same reason...

Soundguy brings up a good point I completly forgot about. If you are lucky enough to have the key code on the face of the lock cylinder (it would probably be something like a letter and three numbers or only 4 or 5 numbers) you may be able to just give the key code to the locksmith and have it cut by code.

Found the key in the garage under some stuff... I'm back in business. Also, the wife put on a coat she hasn't worn in a couple years and when she reached into the pocket... there was the spare car key we lost two years ago... life is good.

I lost our spare car key that I use to warm up the car each winter morning. We looked for hours. I checked the same places 5 or 6 times. There was a piece of construction paper on our counter. I lifted it several times and looked under it. Later in the day, my wife lifts that same piece of paper and the key is sitting there on the counter!!! As best I can figure, either the key was stuck to the bottom of the paper, or Aliens were messin' with me!!!
