I don't know what the Kubota switch costs, but it may be just a simple 4 position switch off, on, start, glowplug. You might be able to use a simple (economical) auto parts store switch if the Kubota one is spendy. It would depend of course on how much juice runs through the Kubota switch. I'm thinking about the glow plug. You could use the accessory position on a convential switch unless the Kubota switch channels all that juice through the switch instead of activating a solenoid or something.

Rico08-I am surprised at what your dealer had to say. I have not had to replace a key, although I was at my dealer just the other day when he pulled out a box of keys, in Kubota parts packages, and sold one to someone. Maybe you should check another dealer.

Your L35 key is a common one with other L series tractors. Your dealer is very money hungry to seel you another switch or either very stupid. I cannot believe that they tried to sell you another switch!!!!! Very unprofessional!!!

Try http://tractorsmart.com I found a set of keys for a Kubota L35 part # 35260-31852 for about $3.53 before shipping. I would do what was suggested in the other post and contact a different dealer in your area and get a set of keys there.

I'm little surprise that your Kubota dealer didn't look up the information for a new key so you could get one mail to you or have a locksmith cut a new key./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I'm not sure if your local locksmith can help, but if you can get the numbers of your swtich maybe just maybe they can cut a new key.

I always wonder if dealers have a couple of master keys for,for its hard to believe after a snowstorm and time to move the tractors for plowing they have to serch out each key for evey tractor./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Take care and stay/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

I think most of your replys are right on the money. I would only add that you would be doing yourself and the rest of us a GREAT service by letting this dealer and parts man know where he is. He may change his ways or not. I have to smile and think I'd give him a little credit for trying but this is overkill. I have seen common keys on other equipment also and the key was the least significant part.

Like others, I'd be surprised if a dealer couldn't send you a key. My Ford 1710 was delivered with only one key. None of the key cutters here had a blank for it, so I called the dealer to see if they could get me a blank. They just mailed me a key instead, and this was for a mid-80's tractor.

All kubota keys for the L-35 are the same. They are also the same for most all tractors either by size or models by most all manufacters. I would think you must have talked to someone who is new or not informed.

Hey all, Mabye its just me but were'nt we just talking recently about "TACTOR THEFT"??? From what I've read stealing a tractor left out in the open appairently isn't that difficult...But does it realy save the manufacturer so much money that its not worth putting a switch on their equipment that would at least add a couple of minutes to this hanus act...(I would rank this up there with hourse stealing, if we were all cowboys) Now I understand why so many folks have been talking about anti theft switch's and etc...Thanks for bringing this up...I will deffenitly be reading up on that subject once I get my 1st machine...Still it's dissapointing to here this about the keys on 10k and up machines...
