Well, I couldn't stand waiting any longer for the part. It warmed up outside so I went down today to Northern Tool and picked up some eclips. The 1" eclip went on real nice. It was a PITA to pull back off when I looked around my work area and saw that one of my balls had fallen out. Dang. Anyway, put the eclip on and did some work. So far so good. The overall outside size of the eclip is about the size of the funky washer thingy that holds the balls in place. A major difference in size over the circlip. I'll check this periodically and report back. Heck, if it lasts at least 50 hours, I'll be happy and it will be better than the circlip at that point. My gut tells me it won't last though because of the flutes. If it were smooth, I think it would last but I think one of the eclick tips my snag itself in a flute eventually and break. BTW, I have a Harbor Freight and Northern Tool by me. Neither carried the metric sizes. I was surprised (but shouldn't be) at how busy both of these places are compared to a year ago. With the economy, snap-on and others may take a hit versus the elcheapo chinese tool joints.

In the event this does not last long, I will have the proper part and now I've been edumacated by Ronald and Tommy and others. Thanks all.

Just a quick update. No problems with that clip. I've moved around 40 tons of gravel, I don't know how many of dirt, all with 4 wheel drive. Nice easy fix.
