3-Point Hitch Lost power on lift arms Ford 1920

Thanks for that tidbit. I did adjust the valve as it was screwed way out and the implement was falling to fast. If memory serves it did stop the implement from moving when seated. I have had several tractors over the years and I am familiar with this valve, I did not realize it proved the lift cyl seal was good....that eliminates one thing.

The first thing i am going to do is change that hyd filter. After thinking of the symptoms, becoming slow and jerky to not working at all, it may have just clogged. I was cutting on some steep hills. could have stirred up a lot of sediment.

This only proves the seal is good if the knob was turned all the way in and the implement wouldn't drop and when you loosen the knob the implement droped. If you don't know when the hyd filter was last change, change it. $44. is a lot cheaper than a hydraulic pump.

Wound up going to Ford dealer because they were closer and only 3 bucks higher on the filter. Plus there were 2 different filters and they had them both...now for the details.

I pulled the filter and all the holes in the top were clogged with what looks like fine paper or leaf like materials. some of the flakes were very large, like small fingernail size. I went ahead and drained the hydro fluid, got some more out in the bottom of the bucket. It does not have a front loader, it has been setting for about 8 years and the fluid look yellow coming out but in the bucket looked like lightly used motor oil. Replaced the fluid and the filter, the 3PH is working fine again. We shall see if the filter clogs again. If it does I am going to try to blow it out as this is not fine sediment.

Glad you got it straightened out. Search JC's posts. He did a detailed post on getting all the crud out of the bottom of the oil sump. I know the inside of the trans and diff. are painted on my 1900. It is a brown color paint. I wonder if yours is painted and the paint is starting to flake off.

These could have been paint....they would be about the right thickness.
