It is always fun going to the range and this time I had the added benefit of going with my dad, and my brother who was in from San Diego.

We shot my sig p229 in .40 and my ruger Mark II .22 pistols. We also rented a sig p239 in .40 as that is the pistol I would like to buy next.

I was not disappointed in the 239, for a more compact pistol it was very easy to shoot and I think it I put hogue grips on it would be a dream.

I also got to hold another gentleman's new ruger lcr. Wow! Unbelievably light and small, yet it doesn't feel awkward in my hand. And I have pretty big hands. If you like .38 revolvers you should look at that gun.

Sounds like a fun day. I don't care for guns or shooting, but I have quite a few of them and shoot half a dozen times a year make sure I'm on target. If I have a big trip coming up, I've been known to shoot twice a week for a coulple months, but it's like excercising. I do it because I have to, not that I enjoy it. Funny thing is that when I have friends over to shoot, I enjoy that allot. Working with somebody to improve their accuracy, or just letting a beginner shoot something for the first time and seeing their reaction. One of my favorite things to do is to start them out on the 22 pistol, then go up to the 380, and up to the 357 mag and then bring out the 44 mag with the 12 inch barrel. Some are confident and ready for it, others get panicky at the size of it and just about anything is possible. One thing that's guranteed, is that they will have a reaction that's worth seeing!!!!

I love shooting, and as you both have said, it can often be best when you are with family and freinds or showing folks that have never done it and watching them progress.

We had a big too-due out at our place a couple of weeks ago, had some freinds in from louisville that don't normally get to shoot and some freinds from around town over, think the neighbors thought it was WWIII for a bit.

We shot about 1500 rounds of 22 and 250 shotgun shells a 1 gallon bag (bet that is not the common measurement of ammo) of 9mm and half an ammo can of 5.56 then a smattering of the hunting guns, other pistols etc. When I looked at the pile of brass at the end of the morning it was scary.

I try and shoot regularly with my son at the spinning targets that you reset by shooting the top. We each have a Ruger 10/22 and like playing back and forth to see who can outshoot who. So far we are pretty matched.

I like to shoot a lot. Take it back, I like to improve my skills whatever they are and shooting is one of them. With reloading in the mix it is close to engineering and I can tinker with it for ever and ever. The great thing is the group can always be smaller, you can always improve - you could call shooting a Tao if you wish:D

I like target shooting, but it's gotten pretty expensive, especially for those of us who live in town now and have to pay to shoot on a public range.

I have the day off and heading to the range this morning!!

I need to zero a Marlin 44 lever action rifle that I just put some new sights on for shooting hogs. I'll also be shooting my 257 weatherby because I'm trying some new ammo (I'm still having accuracy problems with it). Then I need to put a few round through my AR-15 due to ammo changes.

If I have time, I might do some 9mm shooting with my new Sig and some 380 shooting with one of my carry pistols.

Sounds like a fun day.

I'll be heading to my deer camp this weekend to fill feeders with my daughter and might do a little shooting then. We'll probably try to get another hog, between working on feeders.

I enjoy shooting best when I'm teaching the grandkids how to do it. They have shot many rounds thru the old Marlin .22 and a few rounds in the smokepole. Only the older 2 have tried any of the shotguns or the Sako .222 and Savage 270. They like shooting my great grandfathers old Marlin .32 lever gun best but it's almost impossible to find .32 colt longs for it. I've gone to colt shorts since that's all I can find.

I am lucky to have a 250 yard range at my brother's house. Shooting on Sunday mornings is a ritual. I love it when my 7 year old nephew shoots his single shot .22 along with us.

I have the most fun with old single shots. Have a Stevens from about 1901.

Then my Dad's first rifle; a Mossberg bolt action with peep sights. Old '50's era 42A I think.

I don't have my Dad's "first" rifle; don't even know what it was. But I do have the one he was using when I was 5 years old and started following him hunting squirrels and bullfrogs with it. It's a Remington Model 341 Sportmaster that was made sometime between 1936 and 1940.
