I have had the snowblower installed all winter long on the back of my Branson 4020 until this past weekend. I took off the PTO snow blower and installed the backhoe, now the backhoe does not seem to have the power that it should. It is sorta slow to respond and just seems weak. Any body else experienced this and if so what advice or remedy is there for this condition. Thanks

Chances are you have a quick coupler that isn't connect completely.

Did you check the knob under the seat to make sure its open all the way.

Thanks guys. I just checked knob and it is open all the way. I reconnected the quicl couplers but have not had time to run tractor. Will check on Sat. and get back.

Hi,
Did you check the hydraulic oil level, maybe check the filter to.

Mike I checked fluid level and it's spot on. When you say check the filter what are you telling me to do. Are you saying change the filter? I have to assume the filter isn't clogged because the rest of the hydraulics are fine ie. the FEL works normally and has plenty of power. I have the BH back on the tractor now and have a ditch to dig this weekend so I'll double check everything and report back.

Well I moved a buddy's Big Hot tub (about 150 feet) using my clamp-on bucket forks and 2ea 2 1/2" ratchet straps. I'll try and get the pictures from him. Point being the tractor has plenty of hydraulic power. So I used the backhoe to do some digging and the curl seemed to have enough power and I was only running about 1400 rpm. I guess I had some air in the system that had to be worked out.
Thanks for asking.

Had a similar occurence -

Dropped the backhoe after three years of being on the tractor and the 3-point and FEL died. Figured the return hose had a chunk of crud in it that got released and plugged up the works. Changed the filter, etc. to no avail. Finally took it to my local shop, J&L Ag in Willis, TX (not a Branson dealer but great guys). They put the gages on and found the filter base completely plugged. Cleaned it out and everything has been right as rain since.

I question how clean these machines are when they receive the first fill. At 50 hours our front axle fluid was low, milky (water?) and full of metal shavings. Have never seen this again.

No real compliants - heck of a tractor for the $$$.

Interesting. Last year I did a full hydraulic service including the power steering tank. I even pulled the screen filter on the right side of the hyd. case and cleaned the shavings out of it. My fluid looks like brand new in the sight glass so I don't see how I'd have any crud build up but ya never know. So far everything seems to be working great.
