Low Power in Transport gear

I have noticed for a while that our little Shibaura tractor almost stalls going up a incline in the highest gear range. On level ground it runs fine, but once it goes up the hill, the bottom drops out of the tac. Any thoughts? We recently changed the fuel filter, but that didn't make any difference.

Any more details about the tractor? HP rating? Hours? Steepness of the incline?

Just use a lower gear I suppose.

Hard to say hours wise, as its a reman with 500 hrs on the meter. I think about 25 hp. Somewhat, but too steep. I would guess somewhere between 20-30%. Our gas tractor seems to do fine.

Did the tractor climb the hill previously in high gear? Maybe I missed that part.

What additive would I use? Air filter is almost new. Gear tranny. Don't know if it did before. It was parked for a couple of years with a bad water pump, and I never drove it before then.

Neither one of my tractors likes to climb steep grades in high gear. The HST or the gear tranny.

A 20% grade is one he11 of a steep hill. I'd be worried if it didn't struggle on a 20% grade.

It's not very steep at all and here's a chart to prove it.

My tractor can't do any better, but it is 32 hp and 8,500 pounds. 20% is a steep grade. The op's grade probably isn't that steep.
