I am having portions of my barn/workshop insulated with spray foam and will be installing a propane-powered 75k BTU Reznor heater. I'd like to be able to monitor/control the temperate remotely. Everything that I've looked at has a minimum temperature setting of 50 deg. I'd like to be able to set the temp to 38-40 deg. F. What are you using?

If I can't find anything else, I could get one of those IP-enabled relays and connect it in line after a manual thermostat. It wouldn't provide temperature control but it would provide remote on/off capabilities.

Thanks.

If they haven't changed the Honeywell Wi-Fi stat go down to 40 deg. & there app is ok... even the lower end unit allows for remote temperature notifications & internet connection alerts & it is usually available at HD for like $80. They do need to be powered & will require a C wire, for constant power.

I Know the Aprilaire units can do it to but at a much high cost (also I believe the Ecobee3 & above can do 40deg also.... but at a price).... Honeywell will probably be one of the best option of the price & function... the RTH6580WF is the lower end one with Wi-Fi.

Also just a side note: You might want to check your Heater Manual / Specs most have multiple warnings stating the minimum temp it should be operated at to prevent damage to the heat exchanger. (many state 50deg min)

You will usually see a warning like:

Warning this heaters should not be used in an application where the heated space temperature is below XX- deg. Operating under low ambient conditions may cause condensation to form in the heat exchanger.

We have a Temp Stick to monitor a house remotely. You can set alerts for high and low temps as well as humidity to be sent to your phone or email. Very reliable and after a year of many alerts the battery still shows at 100%

I have an oil furnace in the shop with a basic thermostat but have the furnace plugged into a wifi outlet I can turn on or off at anytime or place or even use the timer or schedule.

I have three Filtrete 3m-50’s in the garage, on the cabin furnace and on the millivolt fireplace. It can go down to 40 degrees.

Other than a lightning strike killing one, I’ve never had a problem with any of them.
