I have a 2,000' gravel driveway, which was already built when I moved onto the property. Frankly, the guy that had the driveway built had it done RIGHT! It's got a very solid base, nicely banked on the turns, with a very good crown in the middle.
After looking at a bunch of posts explaining the benefits and detriments of the many attachments which can be used to maintain a gravel driveway, I've decided to go with the LPGS. (I may add a landscape rake if I can find one cheap enough.)
My question is whether I have to or should add a rear remote to my New Holland TC35 to get the most out of the LPGS?
Thanks! (The information on this forum is indispensable to a tractor rookie like me.)

Once you get it set to the right angle you want.. it pretty much floats its way acrosss the ground. IMO.. rear remotes would be nice..but not required.

The LPGS is an excellent implement to groom your driveway. Its not a multi purpose implement but can do a fantastic job.

I have, finally, got a hydraulic top link. It sure is nice & makes finite adjustments on ground engagement implements easy. I run the top link with my one rear remote. I did not figure that I needed two or three or four. My rear remote powers my hydraulic top link which is used about 95% of the time with my rear blade. The other 5% is with my roll over box blade, LPGS and surprisingly my chipper.

I completely agree with Tomtint - nice but not required.

But think about how nice it would be to have those other manual adjustable features that are with your rear blade be hydraulic actuated. Even if it was only the blade angle feature. You would not make good use of that? :confused3:

Maybe the more important question is can you think of any additional future uses for rear remotes? It is usually cheaper to get them with the original purchase.

I got 3 remotes with TnT.

much cheaper at time of purchase especially if you are financing and its spread out across all those months. My one regret was not getting mine with dual rear remotes from the start.

Thanks for the replies!
Unfortunately, the tractor is not a new purchase, so a rear remote will be an add-on to a 7 year old Tractor that I致e owned for 2 of those 7 years.

As usual, when I come across a new (to me) acronym I'll do a Google search to try and make sense of it.

However, I don't think that LPGS stands for the Langley Park School for Girls. Mind you, I didn't investigate their curriculum to see if they offered a class in 'gravel road construction & maintenance', so I could be mistaken.

In the meantime, I'll guess that it's a Land Plane Grader Scraper.

I can not put in print what I thought LPGS was when I first ran into the acronym. Relief, when I found out what it meant in the world of tractors.

I thought I might be running with a bunch of "left ear ring" folks.

Carl from Mississippi has posted a ton of pics and some videos of his 3000 series JD with our EA Xtreme Land Leveler/Land Plane/LPGS in the Everything Attachments Channel on Facebook(Join Us!). The transformations are unbelievable and you'd swear gravel had to be added. I'm sure he'd be glad to give you some first hand advice.

Here is a sample of what it can do:

"I grade lots of driveways. The owner says "I need white rock". I look at it and Most times I say "You do not need to buy more rock. I will grade it and if you are not 100 percent satisfied, it's free !!!!!
So far never done a drive for free.
The grader blade always knocks it out of the park!!!
Digging up unseen gravel !!!!
The owners are blown away.
"Where did the gravel come from? This blade is unreal!!".
