Hi,

I've owned a LS 4041 HS for a couple years. One problem that I've had since it was new is that when I have a load on the forks, the steering does not want to work well. The steering wheel will turn but the actual wheels will not, unless the tractor is moving in a forward or backward direction. This causes a serious problem when I'm trying to move a load through tight spaces.

Sounds like the fluid may be low or the pump is going into bypass due to the weight on front axle. I assume it doesn't do this with light or no load?

Whats on the rear for ballast?

Welcome to hydrostatic steering. Your steering wheel has no direct connection the the front wheels like power assisted steering in a car does. Sucks.

GX3032 - my tractor does the same thing. It's bad on asphalt. It pulls to the right so much so that when I correct by turning the steering wheel counter clockwise over about 6 hundred yards the steering wheel has made a complete revolution.

At my 50 hour service the dealer replaced the power steering cylinder as being weak. Got it home and still does it just not as bad. It a real pain in the butt.

Agree with kennyd. You need more rear ballast. too much weight on the forks (or bucket) without enough rear ballast will cause this problem. I've seen it on a bunch of tractors with hydraulic steering.
